Dez Fitzpatrick
Desmond Emil "Dez" Fitzpatrick (born December 17, 1997) is an American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Louisville Cardinals football, Louisville. Professional career Tennessee Titans Fitzpatrick was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round with the 109th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Fitzpatrick signed his four-year rookie contract with Tennessee on May 17, 2021. He was waived on August 31, 2021, and re-signed to the practice squad. Fitzpatrick was signed to the active roster on November 13, 2021, following Julio Jones being placed on injured reserve. On November 23, Fitzpatrick scored his first career touchdown against the Houston Texans on an 18-yard reception from Ryan Tannehill. 2021 NFL Draft
The 2021 NFL Draft was the 86th National Football League Draft, the annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players for the 2021 NFL season. The draft was held in Cleveland from April 29 to May 1, 2021. Five quarterbacks were selected in the first round — Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and Mac Jones — the second highest number of first-round quarterback selections (along with the 1999 and 2018 drafts) after the six selected in 1983. The draft also marked the third time the first three picks (Lawrence, Wilson, and Lance) were quarterbacks, following the 1971 and 1999 drafts. Ryan Timothy Tannehill III (born July 27, 1988) is an American football quarterback for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas A&M, where he was a wide receiver until his junior year, and was drafted eighth overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2012 NFL Draft. Tannehill spent his first seven seasons as the Dolphins' primary starter before being traded to the Titans in 2019. Initially serving as a backup, Tannehill became the starter midway through the season and led the team to the AFC Championship Game. He was also named NFL Comeback Player of the Year and selected to the Pro Bowl. During his next two seasons, Tannehill helped the Titans clinch consecutive division titles. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. This is particularly important for professional gridiron football teams, which do not have formal minor league farm team affiliates to train players.
