DeWitt Charter Township is a charter township of Clinton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 14,321 at the 2010 census, which was an increase from 12,143 at the 2000 census. The original survey township now includes portions of the cities of DeWitt, East Lansing, and Lansing, but all are administered autonomously or through 425 Agreements. David DeWitt
David J. DeWitt (July 20, 1948) is a computer scientist specializing in database management system research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to moving to MIT, DeWitt was the John P. Morgridge Professor (Emeritus) of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was also a Technical Fellow at Microsoft, leading the Microsoft Jim Gray Systems Lab at Madison, Wisconsin. Professor DeWitt received a B.A. degree from Colgate University in 1970, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1976. He then joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison and started the Wisconsin Database Group, which he led for more than 30 years. The DeWitt Motor Company produced automobiles in a factory in North Manchester, Indiana from about 1908 through 1910. The vehicles came in two models, a 2-seater runabout and a 2-seater light truck. DeWitt is an unincorporated community in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, United States. DeWitt is located on U.S. Route 1 northeast of McKenney. DeWitt is located along a former railroad mainline. The Richmond, Petersburg and Carolina Railroad, passing through DeWitt from Petersburg, Virginia to Ridgeway Junction (today Norlina, North Carolina), was completed in 1900, at which point it was merged into the Seaboard Air Line (SAL). By 1914, the population of DeWitt was estimated by the railroad to be somewhere around 200. The line (dubbed the "S-line" after later mergers) continued to operate until the 1980s, and today DeWitt is along the abandoned portion of the CSX Norlina Subdivision. DeWitt, Michigan
DeWitt is a city in Clinton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,507 at the 2010 census. The city is located north of Interstate 69 and west of U.S. Route 127, just north of the city of Lansing. History DeWitt was named after DeWitt Clinton, Governor of New York during the 1820s. It was first settled by Captain David Scott, who moved there from Ann Arbor in 1833, and platted the land. The State Legislature formally created DeWitt Township on March 23, 1836.
