Dewald Louw
Dewald Louw (born 18 June 1986, in Bloemfontein) is the winner of the first season of The Afrikaans KykNET Idols (South Africa), Idols in South Africa. With him in the final were Alzonia Titus and Willem Botha. In 2007 and 2008, Dewald got a lot of radio play with his radio singles Free To Fly and Nog 'n Hart. Dewald was born in Durbanville, grew up in Bloemfontein and was a second year BA Media Studies student at the University of the Free State when the KykNET Idols of 2006 took place. He made his TV debut in 2000 at the age of 12 when he was the guest artist on a popular Afrikaans music television show Noot Vir Noot. During 2002 he was the youngest finalist of the ATKV Lier Awards of 2001. In 2003, he made it to the final 32 of SA Idols, the show's second English season, however he failed to make it to the top 12 on his first try. Bloemfontein, ( ; , "fountain of flowers") also known as Bloem, is one of South Africa's three capital cities and the capital of the Free State (province), Free State province. Idols (South Africa)
''Idols'' is a television show on the South African television network Mzansi Magic, and previously on M-Net, based on the popular British show ''Pop Idol''. The show is a contest to determine the best young singer in South Africa. The general format of the show is that thousands of hopeful performers from across South Africa audition in front of the judges. They are narrowed down to approximately 100 to enter the theatre rounds. They perform in group and solo rounds until 16 finalists are chosen by the judges (usually 8 males and 8 females). From these, the top 10 are selected, then each week viewers have several hours following the broadcast of the previous episode to vote by phone, SMS or online for their favourite contestant. The contestant(s) with the fewest votes is sent home each week. It was presented by Candy Litchfield and Matthew Stewardson in the first season. Joburg Theatre
Joburg Theatre Complex, previously known as the Johannesburg Civic Theatre, is a group of four theatres situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, South Africa. It was built in 1962, refurnished in the late 1980s and reopened in the early 1990s before it was re-branded in 2009. It's a venue to stage both Broadway musicals and home grown productions. The University of the Free State is a multi-campus public university in Bloemfontein, the capital of the Free State (province), Free State and the judicial capital of South Africa.
