Devotion (Newsboys Album)
''Devotion'' is the eleventh studio album by Christian pop rock band Newsboys, released in November 2004. It is a follow-up album to the band's first worship-oriented project, '' Adoration''. The album debuted at No. 5 on the Top Christian Albums chart, and at No. 56 on the Billboard 200 charts. Several Christian artists made guest appearances on the album, including Rebecca St. James, Bethel World Outreach Choir, Stuart Garrard, and Jon Ellis of Tree63. The album's artwork includes photography of the band by Jimmy Abegg on a valley floor next to the Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge in Williamson County, Tennessee. Because of the bridge's unique design which eliminates any spandrel columns, the perspective on many of photographs leverages the non-blocked views of the scenery and sky on the far side of the bridge behind the band. Newsboys
Newsboys (sometimes stylised as newsboys) are a Christian rock band founded in 1985 in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia, by Peter Furler and George Perdikis. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, the band has released 17 studio albums, 6 of which have been certified gold. As of 2019, the band consists of lead vocalist Michael Tait (formerly of DC Talk), drummer and percussionist Duncan Phillips, keyboardist and bassist Jeff Frankenstein, and guitarist Jody Davis. Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge
The Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge is a concrete double arch bridge located in Williamson County, Tennessee, from the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway. It is long and carries the two-lane Natchez Trace Parkway over State Route 96 and a heavily wooded valley. Background The bridge, also known as the Natchez Trace Parkway Arches, is the first segmentally constructed concrete arch bridge in the United States. The arches comprise 122 hollow box segments precast in nearby Franklin, each of which was about long and weighed between 29 and 45 short tons. The deck consists of 196 precast post-tensioned trapezoidal box girder segments, each typically long. The sections atop the crown of the arch are deep. The foundations and piers of the bridge were cast in place. The long main span is symmetrical, while the long second arch is not, due to the slope of the valley at the southern end of the bridge. Bob Ludwig
Robert C. Ludwig (born c. 1945) is an American mastering engineer. He has mastered recordings on all the major recording formats for all the major record labels, and on projects by more than 1,300 artists including Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Bryan Ferry, Paul McCartney, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen and Daft Punk resulting in over 3,000 credits. Dan Rudin
Dan Rudin is an American record producer, audio and mix engineer, who has amassed thousands of hours in studios across the country, receiving two Grammy Awards, and several gold and platinum records in the process. Rudin began his recording career working as a studio runner and general assistant at AAA Recording Studio, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, while still in high school. After studying music and electrical engineering at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, he moved to New York, New York in 1986, where he took an entry-level position at the Hit Factory studios on 54th St. He went on to work at New York's Record Plant Studios and eventually became chief staff engineer at Grandslam Recording in West Orange, New Jersey. Stuart David Garrard (born 6 July 1963) better known by the stage name Stu G, is an English vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. He is one third of US-based Christian contemporary music band One Sonic Society, and is writing and recording as a solo artist. He served as the lead guitarist, backing vocalist, and secondary songwriter for the rock band Delirious? from 1994 until 2009. His song writing credits for the band include "Come Like You Promise", "Metamorphis", and "Pursuit of Happiness". His most famous work is probably "Majesty (Here I Am)" (written with Delirious? lead singer Martin Smith). Stu G has also produced his own solo material, and released his first album in 1995. Bryan Olesen
Bryan Olesen is a Christian rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. Bryan David Olesen was born on November 1, 1973 in Hartford, Connecticut, to parents John and Norine Olesen. He married Jennifer Hines on August 23, 1997 and has three children. Bryan is best known for his involvement in the major Christian bands Newsboys and VOTA. Bryan is one of the founding members of the group VOTA, previously known as Casting Pearls, a Christian rock band, along with Case Maranville. Timothy David Llewelyn Hughes (born 23 July 1977) is a British worship leader, singer, songwriter, and Anglican priest. Steve Taylor
Roland Stephen Taylor (born December 9, 1957) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, music executive, film maker, assistant professor, and actor. A figure in what has come to be known as Christian alternative rock, Taylor enjoyed a successful solo career during the 1980s, and also served in the short-lived group Chagall Guevara.
