Devilance
Devilance the Pursuer is a fictional extraterrestrial hunter in the DC Comics universe. Publication history Devilance first appeared in ''Forever People'' #11 (August 1972) and was created by Jack Kirby. Fictional character biography Devilance the Pursuer was once one of the most respected minions of Darkseid, lord of Apokolips, as the hunter who captured and brought back his prey to his master for many years. Devilance was tapped to track and destroy Darkseid's hated rivals, the Forever People. When he found them on an island in the Pacific Ocean, the Forever People switched places with the Infinity Man. Devilance and Infinity Man engaged in a terrible battle that destroyed the small island they were fighting on. Both of them appeared atomized and were presumed dead, although later Infinity Man returned to assist the Forever People again. Devilance was not seen for years. Starfire (Teen Titans)
Starfire (Princess Koriand'r) is a superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. She debuted in a DC Comics insert previews, preview story inserted within ''DC Comics Presents'' #26 (October 1980) and was created by Marv Wolfman and the late George Pérez. The name "Starfire" first appeared (for an unrelated character) in a DC Comic in the story "The Answer Man of Space," in ''Mystery in Space'' #73, February 1962, written by Gardner Fox. Infinity Man
Infinity-Man is a fictional character appearing in DC Comics, in the ''Fourth World'' storyline. Publication history Infinity-Man first appeared in '' Forever People'' #1 (February 1971). Fictional character biography Infinity-Man's story begins with Astorr, a powerful warrior from another planet, who rescued the badly burned Drax (brother of Darkseid) and nursed him back to health. Before dying of old age, Astorr passes on his role as the "Infinity-Man" to Drax, who then spends several years preparing for the role. Having assumed the title of Infinity-Man, Drax goes on to serve Highfather on New Genesis, where he first encounters the Forever People and becomes a protector. Whenever Infinity-Man is needed, the Forever People grant him special powers by touching the mother boxes and reciting the word "Taaru". Adam Strange
Adam Strange is a fictional space adventurer appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by editor Julius Schwartz with a costume designed by Murphy Anderson, he first appeared in ''Showcase (comics), Showcase'' #17 (November 1958). Adam Strange made his live action debut in the television series ''Krypton (TV series), Krypton'', portrayed by Shaun Sipos. Publication history In 1957, DC Comics editorial director Irwin Donenfeld held a meeting with editors Jack Schiff and Julius Schwartz in his office, asking them each to create a new science fiction hero, one from the present and one from the future. Given first pick Schiff chose to create one from the future, Space Ranger. Schwartz was happy with the pick feeling that readers would more readily identify with a hero from the present. New Gods
The New Gods are a fictional extraterrestrial race appearing in the eponymous comic book series published by DC Comics, as well as selected other DC titles. Created and designed by Jack Kirby, they first appeared in February 1971 in ''New Gods'' #1. Publication history Volume 1 (1971) The New Gods are natives of the twin planets of New Genesis and Apokolips. New Genesis is an idyllic planet filled with unspoiled forests, mountains, and rivers that is ruled by the benevolent Highfather, while Apokolips is a nightmarish, polluted, and ruined dystopia filled with machinery and fire pits that is ruled by the tyrannical Darkseid. The two planets were once part of the same world, a planet called ''Urgrund'' (German language, German for "primeval ground"), but it was split apart millennia ago after the death of the Old Gods during Ragnarök.
