Devighat
Devighat is one of the historical and religious place of Nuwakot District of Central development region in Nepal. It is located at 60 km north of Kathmandu. It is the death place and place of funeral of king Prithvi Narayan Shah. The town is located at the junction of Trishuli River and Tadi River. Nuwakot District
Nuwakot District ( ne, नुवाकोट जिल्ला, a part of Bagmati Province, is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. The district, with Bidur as its district headquarters, covers an area of and had a population of 288,478 in 2001 and 277,471 in 2011. It is a historically important district in Nepal. Prithvi Narayan Shah died in Devighat of Nuwakot. The district contains places of historical significance such as the town of Nuwakot, and the village of Devighat located at the confluence of the Tadi and Trishuli Rivers. Kakani is popular among Nepalese people as a touristic place and picnic spot. Nuwakot holds the different reminance from the unification movement pioneered by late king Prithvi Narayan Shah to the present situation. Prithvi Narayan Shah
Maharajadhiraj Prithvi Narayan Shah (1723–1775) ( ne, श्री ५ बडामहाराजाधिराज पृथ्वीनारायण शाह देव) was the last ruler of the Gorkha Kingdom and first monarch of the Kingdom of Nepal (also called ''Kingdom of Gorkha''). Prithvi Narayan Shah started the unification of Nepal. Shah proclaimed the newly unified Kingdom of Nepal as ''Asal Hindustan'' ("Real Land of Hindus") due to North India being ruled by the Islamic Mughal rulers. He also referred to the rest of Northern India as ''Mughlan'' (Country of Mughals). Prithvi Narayan Shah is considered as the Father of the Nation in Nepal. Trishuli River
The Trishuli River ( ne, त्रिशूली नदी) is one of the major tributaries of the Narayani River basin in central Nepal. It originates in Tibet as a stream and enters Nepal at Gyirong Town. Etymology The Trishuli is named after the ''trishula'' or trident of Shiva, the most powerful god in the Hindu pantheon, There is a legend that says high in the Himalayas at Gosaikunda, Shiva drove his trident into the ground to create three springs – the source of the river and hence its name Trisuli. Course The stream in Tibet crosses the Nepalese border at Gyirong Town, with the Kyirong gorge opens out at Ragma (3000 m). Thereafter, it flows through Nepal and joins at Devghat the Narayani River, which at a lower stage flows into India and joins the Ganges. Bidur
Bidur is the capital of Nuwakot District in Bagmati Province, Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 18694 and had 3736 houses in it. In February 2008 terrorists damaged the town's water supply plant. Economy In 2020 the first part of the biggest solar power station in Nepal ( Nuwakot Solar Power Station) was connected to the electric grid. Tadi River
Palm wine, known by several local names, is an alcoholic beverage created from the sap of various species of palm tree such as the palmyra, date palms, and coconut palms. Nuwakot, Bagmati
Nuwakot (नुवाकोट) is one of the district in midwest Nepal. The city is located on the bank of Trishuli and Tandi Rivers. It is Located just 75 km west from Kathmandu, known as historic town which was the capital of the Valley in the days before the unification of Nepal by Prithvi Narayan Shah, and for more than 1,000 years the hilltop had served as a lookout and fort (kot) guarding the western entrance to Kathmandu Valley. Nuwakot served as an important trading hub for the Malla (Nepal), Malla kings of the Valley, and was along a major transit route used for trade between India and Tibet (via Kerung). Kakani
Kakani is a Gaunpalika and former village development committee in Nuwakot District in Bagmati Province of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census, the Kakani village development committee administered a population of 7816 living in 1343 individual households.
