Development Movement
The Development Movement ( ka, შენების მოძრაობა) was a political movement in Georgia. It was founded by former speaker of Parliament of Georgia David Usupashvili and former members of Republican Party of Georgia and National Forum. The movement declared itself as centrist. It took part in 2017 Georgian local elections and obtained about 0.7% overall. DM's candidate for 2018 presidential election was David Usupashvili where he got 2.36% of votes. In December 2019, the new political union Lelo for Georgia was established. Davit Usupashvili
David Usupashvili ( ka, დავით უსუფაშვილი, ''Davit Usupašvili'') (born March 5, 1968) is a Georgian lawyer and politician who was the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia from 2012 to 2016. He served as the chairman of the Republican Party of Georgia from June 27, 2005 to November 3, 2013. Nowadays, he is a chairman of the Political Council of Lelo for Georgia. Career Born in Magharo in Soviet Georgia, Usupashvili graduated from the Tbilisi State University with a degree in law in 1992 and obtained MA in International Development Policy from the Duke University in 1999. As a legal adviser with the State Council of Georgia, he was involved in drafting the Constitution of Georgia from 1993 to 1995. 2017 Georgian Local Elections
The 2017 Georgian local elections ( ka, საქართველოს ადგილობრივი თვითმმართველობის ორგანოების არჩევნები) were held on 21 October 2017 to elect the bodies of local government of Georgia: 2,058 members of representative councils (''sakrebulo'') and 64 mayors of municipalities. The votes went into second-round runoffs in six municipalities on 12 November 2017. The ruling Georgian Dream party won in all constituencies under the proportional contest and secured 62 out of 64 mayoral positions. New Rights
The New Rights Party (NRP) ( ka, ახალი მემარჯვენეები, ''Akhali Memarjveneebi''), also translated as New Conservative Party (NCP), was a political party in Georgia. It was an associate member of the International Democrat Union and applicant of the European People's Party. On , the New Rights Party joined the Republican Party of Georgia in a new opposition alliance. Both parties united in "The Alliance for Georgia" led by Irakli Alasania, Georgia's ex-envoy to the United Nations in February 2009.
