Devan Sreenivasan (born January 8, 1952), is an Indian film and television actor, producer, and politician from Kerala. He is known for his character roles in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu language films. After many second hero and supporting actor roles, he made his breakthrough in the 1987 film ''New Delhi''. He later advanced to a lead actor with films like ''Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam'' (1987), ''Oozham'' (1988), ''Simon Peter Ninakku Vendi'' (1988) and ''Aranyakam'' (1988). Devan (R. Mahadevan) (8 September 1913 – 5 May 1958) was a 20th-century Indian writer who wrote in Tamil, known for his witty and humorous stories. Early life Devan was born in 1913 at Thiruvidaimarudur in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India, where he did his schooling. He came to Kumbakonam Government College to complete his B.A. degree. He worked as a school teacher for a year, before joining the popular Tamil weekly magazine, Ananda Vikatan in 1933. Devan's first foray into the world of writing was through the humorous short story "Mister Rajamani", written when he was in his twenties. Life as an editor Devan started as a Sub-Editor at Ananda Vikatan in 1933. After Kalki Krishnamurthy left Vikatan, worked as Managing Editor from 1942 to 1957. Devan Deangelo Downey (born September 28, 1987) is an American professional basketball player. Amateur career He was born in Chester, South Carolina where he attended Chester High School. Named S.C. Devan Dubnyk (born May 4, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, 14th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Dubnyk has also played with the Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes before landing with the Minnesota Wild, with whom he enjoyed the most successful seasons of his NHL career. Chengara Veetil Devan Nair (5 August 1923 – 6 December 2005), also known as C. V. Devan Nair and better known simply as Devan Nair, was a Malaysian-Singaporean politician who served as the third president of Singapore from 1981 until his resignation in 1985. Nair was a communist as a young adult, having been affiliated with the Malayan Communist Party. He harboured anti-colonial sentiments and aspired self-determination of Singapore, which was then a British colony. These caused him to be detained by the British colonial authorities in 1951. In 1954, he joined the People's Action Party, which was more leftist at the time. He was detained again in 1956, and remained so until the PAP won the 1959 general election and helped secure his release. Devan Wray (born October 2, 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a lacrosse coach and former transition player. He wore #4 for the Calgary Roughnecks in the National Lacrosse League. He was also the defence coach for the Edmonton Rush in 2012 & 2013. Wray has been named the head coach of Team Finland for the 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. Prior to the 2011 NLL season, Wray was traded to the Edmonton Rush for a 6th round pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.
