Detachments (British Band)
Detachments are a London-based, post-punk influenced art rock/electronic group led by Bastien Marshal (born Manchester). They were discovered and signed by Thisisnotanexit Records in 2008. Limited edition 12" release ''Fear No Fear'' received excellent reviews including Single of the Day in ''The Times'' reviewed by Trevor Jackson, who liked what he heard so much that he later went on to produce Messages and The Flowers That Fell. Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the early 2000s. Bill Brewster (DJ)
Bill Brewster is a British writer and disc jockey. Brewster co-wrote the book '' Last Night a DJ Saved My Life'' with Frank Broughton. The duo also launched and run Djhistory.com. In 2002, his mix album, ''Praxis'', was released on Hooj Choons. Brewster was born in Grimsby, and later edited ''Mixmag USA''. Fabric 50
From November 2001 to November 2018, the London nightclub fabric ran a monthly mix compilation series. Mixed by a variety of emerging and established DJs, the two series were entitled ''fabric'' and ''FABRICLIVE'' respectively. The compilation mixes were released independently by fabric on an alternating monthly basis. In May 2018, fabric announced that the ''fabric'' series would end "in its current form" with its 100th instalment; in October 2018, fabric revealed the final ''fabric'' compilation would be a triple-disc set, mixed by two of the club's residents— Craig Richards and Terry Francis—as well as its founder, Keith Reilly. Salem (Michigan Band)
Salem (sometimes stylized as S4LEM or SALEM) is an American electronic music band from Traverse City, Michigan. It was founded by Heather Marlatt, Jack Donoghue and John Holland. Salem is considered one of the pioneers of the witch house genre. Salem released its debut album '' King Night'' in 2010. In 2020, the group released a mixtape, ''Stay Down'', followed by their second album, ''Fires in Heaven'', both without Marlatt, who is disputing her ouster. Tony Wilson
Anthony Howard Wilson (20 February 1950 – 10 August 2007) was a British record label owner, radio and television presenter, nightclub manager, impresario and a journalist for Granada Television, the BBC and Channel 4. As a co-founder of the independent label Factory Records and founder-manager of the Haçienda nightclub, Wilson was behind some of Manchester's most successful bands, including Joy Division, New Order, and Happy Mondays. Wilson was known as "Mr Manchester", dubbed as such for his work in promoting the culture of Manchester throughout his career. New Order (band)
New Order are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The members regrouped after the demise of their previous band Joy Division due to the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. They were joined by Gillian Gilbert on keyboards later that year. Peter Hook
Peter Hook (born Woodhead; 13 February 1956) is an English musician, best known as the bassist and co-founder of the rock bands Joy Division and New Order. Hook often used the bass as a lead instrument, playing melodies on the high strings with a signature heavy chorus effect. In New Order, he would do this, leaving the actual basslines to keyboards or sequencers. Hook formed the band which was to become Joy Division with Bernard Sumner in 1976. Following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980, the band reformed as New Order, and Hook played bass with them until 2007. Paul Lester is a British music journalist, author and broadcaster from Elstree, North London.
