Loneliness is an unpleasant emotional response to perceived isolation. Loneliness is also described as social paina psychological mechanism which motivates individuals to seek social connections. It is often associated with a perceived lack of connection and intimacy. Loneliness overlaps and yet is distinct from solitude. Solitude is simply the state of being apart from others; not everyone who experiences solitude feels lonely. Songs from the Chinese Poets are series of song settings, by Granville Bantock. The English song texts were mainly supplied by Captain L. A. Cranmer Byng (1872-1945), who had also supplied the text for ''Choral Suite from the Chinese'' (1914). Launcelot Alfred Cranmer-Byng was part of the Byng baronets family and wrote various books on China. In 1933 the first set were also arranged in the form of a four movement string quartet under the title ''In a Chinese Mirror''. It was recorded for the first time by the Tippett Quartet in 2021. Desolation (Llimona)
''Desolation'' is a sculpture made by Josep Llimona 1907 which is part of the collection of the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona. Background Llimona, of the Modernisme, Catalan Modernism school of sculpture, joined the Symbolism (arts), Symbolism movement during the first few years of the 20th century after adopting an idealism deeply rooted in his religious convictions. Llimona contributed to the founding of the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc, Artistic Circle of Sant Lluc, which intended to preserve art from the perceived excesses of contemporary artists. Female nudes were prohibited by the Circle's initial statutes, and Llimona created ''Desolation'' after the prohibition was lifted.
