Deso Gelmisa
Chalu Deso Gelmisa (born ) is a long-distance runner from Ethiopia. He won the 2022 Paris Marathon and the 2023 Tokyo Marathon. Career In 2017, Deso took part in the Route du Vin Half Marathon in Luxembourg, finishing in twelfth place with a time of 1:08:06. In 2019, Deso placed second in the Castellón Marathon. He finished with a time of 2:13:12, nearly five minutes behind his compatriot Andualem Belay, who won the marathon. Eight months later, Deso won the 2019 Porto Marathon with a finish time of 2:09:08, nearly two minutes ahead of the second-place finisher. He broke away from the other runners about from the finish, and set a personal best by more than three minutes, though he missed breaking the course record by three seconds. The 2022 Valencia Marathon was an Elite Platinum Label marathon race held in Valencia, Spain on December 4, 2022. It was the 42nd running of the race. Results 23-year old Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum, in his marathon debut, won the elite men's title by 2:01:53, and set a new course record. Amane Beriso, who has won the elite women's title by 2:14:58, also smashed the previous course record. She is now ranked third in the women's marathon all-time top list. A podium sweep is where a team or nation comes in first, second and third, such as at the Olympics, and wins all available medals, which are recognized by a podium ceremony. The word sweep is commonly used in North American sports such as baseball, basketball, cricket and ice hockey which have playoff or regular season series, to describe a situation where one team wins all the games in a series, for example, with a 4–0 victory in a best-of-seven series. The term is also used in a broader sense when a country, team or athlete wins all possible prizes in a competition. At the highest level, that would be when one nation wins all the medals in the Olympics. Podium
A podium (plural podiums or podia) is a platform used to raise something to a short distance above its surroundings. It derives from the Greek ''πόδι'' (foot). In architecture a building can rest on a large podium. Podiums can also be used to raise people, for instance the conductor of an orchestra stands on a podium as do many public speakers. Common parlance has shown an increasing use of ''podium'' in North American English to describe a lectern. In sports, a type of podium can be used to honor the top three competitors in events. In the modern Olympics a tri-level podium is used. Traditionally, the highest platform is in the center for the gold medalist.
