''Descendants'' is an American media franchise centered on a series of Disney Channel musical fantasy films. The franchise was created by Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott, with the first three films directed by Kenny Ortega, and the fourth directed by Jennifer Phang. The ''Descendants'' franchise is set in a universe that continues the narratives of Disney's animated classic films. The series stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart, and each film follows the lives of the teenage children of four Disney Villains who reside on the Isle of the Lost. They are invited to the kingdom of Auradon by the teenage son of Queen Belle and King Beast. The first film premiered as a Disney Channel Original Movie in July 2015. Due to its success, a sequel was produced and premiered across six Disney-owned networks in July 2017. The third film debuted on Disney Channel in August 2019. Josann McGibbon
Josann McGibbon is an American screenwriter who previously teamed with Sara Parriott in one of the longest writing partnerships in Hollywood; they were a team for 33 years from 1986-2019. Biography The team's first major success as screenwriters was the early Brad Pitt film, '' The Favor''. Their biggest hits since then include ''Three Men and a Little Lady'' and '' Runaway Bride''. In 2007, McGibbon and Parriott co-wrote and produced the hit Debra Messing miniseries, '' The Starter Wife''. ''The Starter Wife'' received 10 Emmy nominations in 2007, including one for best screenwriting, and they won an Emmy Award. It was also nominated for Golden Globe and Writers Guild awards, and was then produced as a series, also on USA Network. McGibbon and Parriott wrote and co-produced the Disney Channel movie, '' Descendants'' which was directed by Kenny Ortega and premiered in July, 2015. Cameron Boyce
Cameron Mica Boyce (May 28, 1999 – July 6, 2019) was an American actor. He began his career as a child actor, appearing in the 2008 films ''Mirrors'' and ''Eagle Eye'', along with the comedy film '' Grown Ups'' (2010) and its 2013 sequel.
