''Des'' is a British three-part television drama miniseries, based on the 1983 arrest of Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen, after the discovery of human remains causing the blockage of a drain near his home. The series premiered on 14 September 2020. Crime Film
Crime films, in the broadest sense, is a film genre inspired by and analogous to the crime fiction literary genre. Films of this genre generally involve various aspects of crime and its detection. Stylistically, the genre may overlap and combine with many other genres, such as drama or gangster film, but also include comedy, and, in turn, is divided into many sub-genres, such as mystery, suspense or noir. Screenwriter and scholar Eric R. Williams identified crime film as one of eleven super-genres in his Screenwriters Taxonomy, claiming that all feature-length narrative films can be classified by these super-genres. Barry Ward (actor)
Barry Ward is an Irish actor. He began his career as a child actor in the RTÉ/BBC series ''Family'' (1994) and '' Plotlands'' (1997), and the film ''Sunburn'' (1999). His films since include '' Jimmy's Hall'', ''Blood Cells'' (both 2014), '' Extra Ordinary'' (2019), and '' Dating Amber'' (2020), the latter of which won him an IFTA. On television, he is more recently known for his roles in the RTÉ series '' Rebellion'' (2016) and ''Taken Down'' (2018), the Sky Atlantic series ''Britannia'' (2017–2019) and '' Save Me'' (2018–2020), and the BBC series '' The Capture'' (2019). ''A Is for Acid'' is a 2002 British television film based on the life of the serial killer John George Haigh, known as the Acid Bath Murderer, because he dissolved the bodies of six people in sulphuric acid. Haigh, hanged in 1949 for his crimes, had wrongly believed that murder could not be proven without the presence of a body. Starring Martin Clunes in the lead role, the film was shot in Scarborough, chosen because its appearance was believed similar to that of London when Haigh lived there during the 1940s and also Saltaire to represent his early life. The film was produced by Yorkshire Television for the ITV network and aired on ITV1 on 9 September 2002. Sir David Powell Croom-Johnson, DSC, VRD (28 November 1914 – 21 November 2000) was a British barrister and judge who served as a Lord Justice of Appeal from 1984 to 1989. Ken Bones (born 11 June 1947) is an English actor. He is a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Career Theatre Bones trained at RADA between 1971 and 1973, where he won the Honours Diploma, the Ronson Prize, the Kendal Award, the Poel Prize and John Barton Prize. His first professional stage appearance was as Roy in ''The Odd Couple'' at Crewe in January 1974. Allan Green (barrister)
Sir Allan David Green, KCB, KC (born 1 March 1935) is a retired barrister in England and Wales. He was Director of Public Prosecutions and second head of the Crown Prosecution Service from 1987 to 1992. Career He was called to the bar in 1959 and rose to become a recorder (part-time judge) in 1979. Among his cases was the trial of the so-called 'Muswell Hill Murderer', serial killer Dennis Nilsen. After a successful career as a prosecution counsel, he was appointed Director of Public Prosecutions in 1987. In this role he was responsible for the majority of criminal prosecutions in England, and in his term of office he had to deal with the appeals against conviction of the Guildford Four and the Birmingham Six.
