Allen Derr
Allen Richard Derr (April 5, 1928 – June 10, 2013) was an American lawyer who successfully argued ''Reed v. Reed'', a landmark United States Supreme Court decision issued in 1971 that strengthened anti-discrimination protections for women. Early life and education Born in Sandpoint, Idaho, Derr was the son of Idaho politicians. His father, Alfred M. Derr, served in the Idaho Senate. His mother, Hattie Derr, became Idaho's first female state senator in 1937 when she was appointed to the Idaho Senate to fill in for her husband, who was suffering from appendicitis. He was raised in the Idaho Panhandle region. Derr worked as a page in the Idaho Legislature 1941. He graduated from Clark Fork Junior/Senior High School, Clark Fork High School in Clark Fork, Idaho, in 1947. Derr earned both his bachelor's degree and law degree from the University of Idaho. Richard Derr (June 15, 1917 – May 8, 1992) was an American actor who worked on stage, screen, and television, performing in both starring and supporting roles. Early years Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Derr graduated from Norristown High School in 1933. While he worked as a bank clerk, he acted with a little theater group in Norristown. Jill Mulvay Derr (born September 8, 1948) was a senior research historian in the Church History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 2005 to 2011. She previously served as Managing Director of the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Latter-day Saint History at Brigham Young University (2003-2005), where she was also Associate Professor of Church History (1998-2005). Her research and publications have focused on the history of Mormon and Utah women, and she is past president of the Mormon History Association (1998-1999). Manuela Derr, married Rödel (born 17 July 1971 in Neubrandenburg) is a retired East German sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. She was banned from competing for doping in 1992. Biography She won most of her medals at the junior level. At the 1988 World Junior Championships she finished fifth in the individual distance and a gold medal in 4x400 metres relay. At the 1989 European Junior Championships she won four medals; a gold medal in 4 × 400 m relay, a silver medal in the 200 metres and bronze medals in the 100 metres and 4x100 metres relay.
