Dermot Heaney
Dermot Heaney (born 27 July 1971) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Derry county team in the 1990s and early 2000s. He part of Derry's 1993 All-Ireland Championship winning side, also winning Ulster Senior Football Championships in 1993 and 1998. He usually played in the half-forward line, although sometimes played in midfield. Heaney played club football with St Malachy's GAC Castledawson. Playing career Inter-county Henaey as a teenager was known as a football prodigy. He played Minor football for Derry for three years from 1987 to 1989. In 1989 he was full forward on the team won the Ulster Minor Football Championship and All-Ireland Minor Championship. He was part of Derry's National League winning team in 1992, playing in midfield. Heaney was awarded the Ulster Tennent's GAA Writers' Association Monthly Merit Award for April 1992 for his performances in the latter stages of the league. Castledawson GAC
Saint Malachy's GAC Castledawson is a Gaelic Athletic Club from Castledawson, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of Derry GAA and currently compete in gaelic football, hurling and camogie. 2017 Championship Football History St Malachy's GAC was set up largely thanks to Paddy Graham from the townland of Tamnadace outside the village. The Graham Cup, a reserve competition for South Derry clubs, is named in his honour. Although a relatively small club, they competed for several years in the Derry senior league. Adult Championships Derry Senior Football Championship The Derry Senior Football Championship is the most prestigious football competition in Derry. It has been running for over 100 years, and the winning team are awarded the Johnny McLaughlin Cup. The winners of the Derry Senior Championship qualify to represent Derry in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. Currently it is entered by the top 16 teams in Derry. Bellaghy have won the championship the most times, having won 21 titles since their first success in 1956. Derry, officially Londonderry (), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fifth-largest city on the island of Ireland. GAA All Stars Awards
The Gaelic Athletic Association-Gaelic Players' Association All Stars Awards (often known simply as the All Stars) are awarded annually to the best player in each of the 15 playing positions in Gaelic football and hurling. Additionally, one player in each code is selected as Player of the Year. The awards were instituted in 1971. Since 2011 they have been presented jointly by the Gaelic Athletic Association and the representative body for inter-county players, the Gaelic Players Association. Each player who receives a nomination is given a medallion marking the milestone. It is considered "the most coveted sporting award scheme in the country". The Dr McKenna Cup is an annual Gaelic football competition played between Counties of Ireland, counties and List of universities in Northern Ireland, universities in the province of Ulster GAA, Ulster. It is the secondary Gaelic football competition based in Ulster behind the Ulster Senior Football Championship, and the fourth most important inter-county competition in which Ulster counties take part, behind the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Championship and the National Football League (Ireland), National Football League. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Saint Pius X College is a Roman Catholic co-educational secondary school in Magherafelt, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. History St Pius X Voluntary Intermediate School began in 1960 with the purchase of of land, at a cost of £5,000, by Canon Mark Quinn, parish priest of Magherafelt. The building of the school commenced in 1962 and opened for three hundred pupils in September 1964. The official opening by Cardinal Conway took place in June 1965. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling).
