Deriugins School
The Deriugina School, also known as the Deriugins' School is a rhythmic gymnastics club in Kyiv, Ukraine. It is run by the mother and daughter team of Albina Deriugina, who is the head coach, and Irina Deriugina, who acts as the assistant coach. Irina's daughter, Ireesha Blokhina, works in the school as a senior choreographer. Every year since 1992 the club plays host to the biggest rhythmic gymnastics competition in Ukraine, ''The Deriugina Cup'' (Кубок Дерюгіної). The main training centre of the club is the October Palace in Kyiv. History In the 1970s Deriugina gymnasts comprised the majority of the Soviet team with the Deriugina gymnasts becoming Soviet, European and World champions. Rhythmic Gymnastics
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which gymnasts perform on a floor with an apparatus: hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon. The sport combines elements of gymnastics, dance and calisthenics; gymnasts must be strong, flexible, agile, dexterous and coordinated. Rhythmic gymnastics is governed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), which first recognized it as a sport in 1963. It became an Olympic sport in 1984, with an individual all-around event. The group all-around competition was added to the Olympics in 1996. At the international level, rhythmic gymnastics is a women-only sport. The most prestigious competitions, besides the Olympic Games, are the World Championships, World Games, European Championships, European Games, the World Cup Series and the Grand Prix Series. Euromaidan
Euromaidan (; uk, Євромайдан, translit=Yevromaidan, lit=Euro Square, ), or the Maidan Uprising, was a wave of Political demonstration, demonstrations and civil unrest in Ukraine, which began on 21 November 2013 with large protests in Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kyiv. Olena Diachenko
Olena Ihorivna Diachenko ( uk, Олена Ігорівна Д'яченко, born 15 June 2001) is a Ukrainian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the two-time (2015–16) Ukrainian Junior National champion. Career Junior Diachenko began appearing in international junior competitions in 2013. In 2015 season, she competed in numerous Junior World Cup events in Lisbon, Budapest, Pesaro, Sofia. Diachenko along with seniors Ganna Rizatdinova and Viktoria Mazur competed at the annual 2015 Aeon Cup where Team Deriugins School won the silver and with Diachenko finishing 7th in junior individual all-around finals. Viktoria Mazur
Viktoria Oleksiivna Mazur ( ua, Вікторія Олексіївна Мазур, russian: Виктория Алексеевна Мазур; born 15 October 1994 in Lugansk) is a retired Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast who competed in individual and group rhythmic gymnastics. Career Mazur began competing on the international junior level in 2007. At the 2008 European Junior Championships she was a member of the bronze medal-winning Team Ukraine. Mazur debuted as a senior in 2010. She competed at her first World Championships in 2011 in Montpellier, France, where Team Ukraine won the bronze medal. She was a member of the Ukrainian group that competed at the 2012 London Olympics and finished fifth in all-around. Eleonora Romanova
Eleonora Alekseevna Romanova (russian: Элеоно́ра Алексе́евна Рома́нова; ua, Елеонора Олексіївна Романова, born 17 August 1998) is a Russian (since September 2016) and former Ukrainian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2013 Ukrainian national junior champion. Career Junior Romanova began appearing in international junior competitions in the 2011 Season. She won team silver at the 2012 Kiev World Cup. Romanova together with teammate Anastasiia Mulmina competed at the 2012 European Junior Championships, she qualified to 2 event finals (6th in hoop and 8th in ribbon). Anastasiia Kostiantynivna Mulmina ( ua, Анастасія Костянтинівна Мульміна, born 27 April 1997) is a Ukrainian group rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2012 European Junior bronze medalist in ball. Career Junior In 2009, Mulmina moved from Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, into the School of Olympic Reserve until in 2011, she began training under the Deriugins School (also known as the Deriugina School). Alina Maksymenko
Alina Oleksandrivna Maksymenko ( ua, Аліна Олександрівна Максименко, born 10 July 1991) is a retired individual rhythmic gymnast. Career In 2008, Maksymenko participated as a member of the Ukrainian Group at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. They finished eighth in the group all-around finals. At the 2009 World Championships in Ise, Mie, Japan, Maksymenko began competing as an individual gymnast and placed 16th in the all-around final. At the 2010 World Championships in Moscow, Russia, she placed 5th in the all-around final. She was also one of the only two gymnasts to qualify for all of the event finals (the other being Aliya Garayeva). Maksymenko won three golds and one silver medal at the Deriugina World Cup 2011. Natalia Oleksandrivna Godunko ( uk, Наталія Олександрівна Годунко; russian: Наталья Александровна Годунко, born 5 December 1984) is a Ukrainian former rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2001 team all-around world champion, 2005 European ribbon champion and the 2004 Grand Prix Final all-around champion. Personal life Godunko was born in Kyiv, in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union (in present-day Ukraine). Maria Petrova (rhythmic Gymnast)
Maria Dimitrova Petrova ( bg, Мария Димитрова Петрова; born 13 November 1975) is a Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is a three-time (1993, 1994, 1995) World All-around champion and a three-time (1992, 1993, 1994) European All-around champion. Career Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Petrova began her training at the age of five at local club Trakia Plovdiv Club, coached by Natalia Moravenova. By 1991, she was coached by Neshka Robeva at the Levski Sofia Club. In her first World Championship appearance, Petrova placed second in the team competition after a hoop drop. Adriana Dunavska
Adriana Dunavska ( bg, Адриана Дунавска) (born 21 April 1969) is a Bulgarian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 1988 Olympic All-around silver medallist, 1987 World All-around silver medallist, 1989 World All-around bronze medallist and the 1988 European All-around champion. She also won a gold medal at the 1987 World Championships with the rope. Her twin sister, Kamelia Dunavska was also a competitive rhythmic gymnast. Biography Dunavska was born on 21 April 1969. She was a star pupil at club CSKA in her hometown, where she was coached by Borislava Kuichkova until she was selected for the national team.
