Derick Cabrido
Roderick "Derick" Cabrido is a Filipino documentary producer and film maker. He was awarded with the Bronze World Medal at the 2009 New York Television Festival, for the documentary " Pinays for Export", Silver Screen Award at the 2010 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival for the documentary "Tasaday", he also won the 2012 Silver World Medal Award at the New York Festivals for his documentary "Yaman sa Basura" which is also a finalist for the 2011 UNICEF Asia-Pacific Child Rights Awards. He was born and raised in Tondo, Manila one of the most densely populated areas of land in the world and one of the poorest and most underdeveloped communities in the Philippines. He is a film and documentary producer of such films at Cuchera (2011) and Nuwebe (2013). In 2014 he directed his debut feature film Children's Show. Cinemalaya
The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival is a film festival in the Philippines held annually during the month August at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex and various cinemas. Its aim is the development and promotion of Filipino independent films. The film festival is organized by the Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc. with the support of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Econolink Investments, Inc. Each year, the Festival provides "seed investments" of ₱500,000 (US$10,000~) to ten independent filmmakers. It has since been increased to ₱1,000,000 (US$20,000~) since 2019. Joel Lamangan
Joel Lamangan (born September 21, 1952) is a Filipino film director, television director and actor. His award-winning films includes '' The Flor Contemplacion Story'', ''Sidhi'', '' Deathrow'', ''Hubog'', '' Aishte Imasu 1941'', '' Blue Moon'' and ''Mano Po''. The 36th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada between September 8 and September 18, 2011. Buenos Aires, Argentina was selected to be showcased for the 2011 City to City programme.
