Derek Gordon Thomas (born 20 July 1972) is a British politician and former property developer serving as the Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament (MP) for St Ives (UK Parliament constituency), St Ives since the 2015 United Kingdom general election, 2015 general election. He is a member of the Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party. Early life and career Thomas was born in Cornwall to parents who were evangelical Missionary, missionaries. He grew up in West Cornwall and went on to complete a traditional Cornish Mason Apprenticeship. St Buryan ( kw, Pluwveryan) is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of St Buryan, Lamorna and Paul in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village of St Buryan is situated approximately west of Penzance along the B3283 towards Land's End. Three further minor roads also meet at St Buryan, two link the village with the B3315 towards Lamorna, and the third rejoins the A30 at Crows-an-Wra. Land's End ( kw, Penn an Wlas or ''Pedn an Wlas'') is a headland and tourist and holiday complex in western Cornwall, England, on the Penwith peninsula about west-south-west of Penzance at the western end of the A30 road.
