Derek Robertson Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, RSW Society of Scottish Artists, SSA Society of Animal Artists, SAA (born 1967) is a Scottish people, Scottish artist. One of the signature members of the Society of Animal Artists, he is known for his paintings of wildlife and landscapes, and for his poetic narrative work consisting of paintings, constructions and installations. He has been elected several times on the Council of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, RSW and has written and presented 5 television programs about his work and the wildlife he portrays and has written 5 books about his art: ''The Mugdrum'', ''Highland Sketchbook'', ''A Studio Under The Sky'', ''Otters, An Artist's Sketchbook'', ''"Living Landscapes"'' and ''Puffins: An Artist's Sketchbook''. Royal Scottish Society Of Painters In Watercolour
The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (RSW) is a Scottish organisation of painters. The first preliminary meeting of the society took place in Glasgow on 21 December 1877 as a reaction to a lack of interest in watercolour art by existing exhibitors. The society was inaugurated on 4 March 1878 with the election of its first president, Sir Francis Powell and vice president, Sam Bough. Its first exhibition of 172 pictures took place in November. It was founded to "promote, through exhibition, the medium of watercolour and encourage the bold, free and colourful qualities of Scottish Painting." The society received permission from Queen Victoria to use the prefix "Royal" in February 1888. In around 1894 the society changed its rules to allow female artists to be admitted with the same privileges as male artists. St Kilda, Scotland
St Kilda ( gd, Hiort) is an isolated archipelago situated west-northwest of North Uist in the North Atlantic Ocean. It contains the westernmost islands of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The largest island is Hirta, whose sea cliffs are the highest in the United Kingdom; three other islands ( Dùn, Soay and Boreray) were also used for grazing and seabird hunting. The islands are administratively a part of the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar local authority area. The origin of the name ''St Kilda'' is a matter of conjecture. Braemar is a village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, around west of Aberdeen in the Highlands.
