Derek Mooney
Derek James Mooney (born 4 March 1967) is an Irish radio and television presenter, as well as a radio producer. Until January 2015 he presented a weekday afternoon programme called '' Mooney'' on RTÉ Radio 1. He is the current executive producer across RTÉ Radio 1's nature and wildlife programming On television he has often presented game shows and talent contests: his presentation credits include ''Echo Island'', ''Gridlock'', ''Winning Streak'', the ill-fated ''Cabin Fever'', '' You're a Star'', '' The Big Money Game'', '' Fame: The Musical'', '' The Genealogy Roadshow'' and '' Who Knows Ireland Best?''. At the end of these shows he uses his trademark farewell. RTÉ Radio 1 ( ga, RTÉ Raidió 1) is an Irish national radio station owned and operated by RTÉ and is the direct descendant of Dublin radio station 2RN, which began broadcasting on a regular basis on 1 January 1926. The total budget for the station in 2010 was €18.4 million. It is the most-listened-to radio station in Ireland. History The Department of Posts and Telegraphs opened 2RN, the first Irish radio station, on 1 January 1926. Station 6CK, a Cork relay of 2RN, joined the Dublin station in 1927, and a high-power transmitter at Athlone in County Westmeath opened in 1932. Gay Byrne
Gabriel Mary "Gay" Byrne (5 August 1934 – 4 November 2019) was an Irish presenter and host of radio and television. His most notable role was first host of '' The Late Late Show'' over a 37-year period spanning 1962 until 1999. ''The Late Late Show'' is the world's second longest-running chat show. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Gay", "Gaybo" or "Uncle Gaybo". ''Dream Ticket'' was a music radio show on BBC Radio 6 Music, and on the air since the opening of the radio station in 2002 until 2007. Laura Woods is an Irish television presenter and radio host. Career Whilst in her third year at Trinity, Woods began her broadcasting career by working as a continuity announcer on RTÉ Radio. In 1999, she presented the ''Breakfast Show'' on Trinity FM. She joined RTÉ Television as a continuity announcer in 2000. Moving from continuity announcing in September 2002, Woods became the face of ''iD''(renamed ''iD Two'' in late 2004) and remained there until May 2005. Michael James Murphy (born 20 October 1941) is an Irish broadcaster, actor and property developer. He is best known for his long broadcasting career with RTÉ, presenting many TV shows such as '' The Live Mike'', ''Winning Streak'' and '' The Big Interview''. Early life Murphy was born in Dublin on 20 October 1941. He was the eldest of five children born to Ned and Kitty Murphy. Nature Detectives is an online phenology research and education project for 4–18-year-olds in the UK. It is run by the Woodland Trust, as part of the UK Phenology Network. Participants record the dates they see seasonal events, such as leafing, flowering, bird migration, nesting or fruit ripening in their own recording form on the website. The data they collect is fed into the UKPN national database, which has over 11,000 contributors and now contains over one million records.
