Derek Hogg
Derek Hogg (4 November 1930 – 4 November 2014) was an English Association football, footballer who played at outside-left for Leicester City F.C., Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion F.C., West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City F.C., Cardiff City in the 1950s and 1960s. Football career Hogg was born Norton-on-Tees in County Durham but started his football career as an amateur with Chorley F.C., Chorley in the Lancashire Combination. In October 1952, he was signed as a professional by Leicester City F.C., Leicester City of the Football League Second Division, making his debut in a 3–3 draw with Leeds United F.C., Leeds United on 14 February 1953. He soon developed a partnership with Arthur Rowley who was to become the top goal-scorer in the Football League. Hogg represented his country twice, playing for an English League XI in 1955 and an English FA XI in 1956. Norton-on-Tees
Norton is a market town in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, England. It stands on higher ground to the south, further away from the River Tees than Stockton town centre. They are small areas west of the area called Roseworth and Ragworth. Billingham Beck is to the area's east, the beck flows south-east to join the river. Wolviston and Wynyard are the nearest places to the north. They are three wards with the area's name. The 1956–57 season was the 77th season of competitive football in England. Manchester United won the First Division to become English football champions for the fifth time. Tottenham Hotspur were runners-up. In the Second Division it was Leicester City who finished in top spot, ahead of East Midlands rivals, Nottingham Forest. Hartlepools United finished as runners-up to Derby County in Third Division North, while in the Third Division South, Ipswich Town won the title ahead of Torquay United. Aston Villa won a record seventh FA Cup, beating Manchester United in the final and denying their opponents the chance of being the first double winners of the 20th century. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions.
