Derek Chatterton
Derek Chatterton (Born 31 January 1945) is a British former professional motorcycle road racer. __TOC__ Motorcycle racing career Born in Lincolnshire, England, Chatterton's motorcycle road racing career spanned thirty years, beginning in 1961 at the age of 16. His first race was at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire on a 1949 Velocette, early promise that year didn't initially translate to good results until Mallory Park at the end of the season where Chatterton, riding an NSU Sportmax, finished third in the Junior race collecting 'Rider of the Meeting' in the process. In 1967, riding a Ducati framed Yamaha TD1, he won the British 250cc National championship. Chatterton also won the 1970 British 350cc National championship. In 1974 Chatterton scored an impressive 500cc class victory over multi-time world champion Giacomo Agostini at Cadwell Park. Chatterton also competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Donington Park
Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival. Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was created as a racing circuit during the period between the First and Second World Wars when the German Silver Arrows were battling for the European Championship. Used as a military vehicle storage depot during the Second World War, it fell into disrepair until bought by local construction entrepreneur Tom Wheatcroft. Revived under his ownership in the 1970s, it hosted a single Formula One race in 1993, but became the favoured home of the British round of the MotoGP motorcycling championship. Oliver's Mount
Oliver's Mount is an area of high ground overlooking Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It offers views over the town, a tribute monument to the war dead, camping and caravanning at selected times of the year, 10 football pitches, 1 rugby league pitch, in the past a small school, and a cafe, but may be primarily known for its motorcycle races. Oliver's Mount first held a motorcycle race in 1946, and continues to hold motorcycle circuit racing today, and also holds car rally and car hill-climb events. Cars have raced here twice, in 1955 and 1956. In 2016 Oliver's Mount was the summit for the final classified climb on the third stage of the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race. The site also houses the broadcasting transmitter which provides TV and radio services to Scarborough and the surrounding areas. Dutch TT
The Dutch Tourist Trophy, also known as the ''TT Assen'', is an annual Dutch motorsport event established in 1925 for road racing motorcycles held on the TT Circuit Assen, also known as the ‘Cathedral of Speed'. The event attained world championship status in 1949 when it was sanctioned by the FIM as part of the inaugural Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championship season, making it the oldest event on the MotoGP calendar. The venue holds the record for being the only circuit to have hosted a motorcycle Grand Prix event every year since the series was created in 1949, with the exception of 2020 when the race was cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
