Derek Chadwick
Derek Chadwick (born 21 March 1941) is an Australian former sportsman, playing both first-class cricket with Western Australia and Australian rules football for East Perth in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL). Chadwick was a right-handed opening batsman who made 4082 runs at 34.30 during his cricketing career, with 9 centuries. He toured New Zealand with the Australian team in 1969-70. As a footballer he was a wingman and played a at-the-time club record 269 games for East Perth, winning their best and fairest award, the F.D. Book Medal twice. East Perth Football Club
The East Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Royals, is an Australian rules football club based in Leederville, Western Australia, current playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Formed in 1902 as the Union Football Club, the club entered the WAFL in 1906, changing its name to East Perth. It won its first premiership in 1919, part of a streak of five consecutive premierships. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. Western Warriors
The Western Australian Men’s cricket team, formerly nicknamed the Western Warriors, represent the Australian state of Western Australia in Australian domestic cricket. The team is selected and supported by the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA), and plays its home games at the WACA Ground and Perth Stadium in Perth. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). The West Australian Football League (WAFL) is an Australian rules football league based in Perth, Western Australia. The league currently consists of ten teams, which play each other in a 20-round season usually lasting from March to September, with the top five teams playing off in a finals series, culminating in a Grand Final. Australian Cricket Team In New Zealand In 1969–70
While the Australia national cricket team was touring South Africa in 1969–70, another Australian team captained by Sam Trimble toured New Zealand between late February and early April. They played three matches against New Zealand, but these were not granted Test status. The Australians also played first-class matches against New Zealand Under-23, Central Districts, Northern Districts, Canterbury and Otago.
