Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1965 was the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for ninety-four years. It was their sixty-first season in the County Championship and they won seven championship matches and lost nine to finish ninth in the County Championship. It was the third season in which the Gillette Cup was played, and Derbyshire reached the second round. 1965 season Derbyshire played 28 games in the County Championship, one match against the touring South Africans and one match against Oxford University. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Wilderness years 1888–1893 From 1888 Derbyshire's matches were not accorded first class status. Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground, although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county. William Richardson (cricketer, Born 1938)
George William Richardson (born 26 April 1938) is a former English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1959 and 1965. Richardson was born at Marylebone, London, the son of Arthur Walker Richardson, who played for Derbyshire between 1928 and 1936 and was club captain for five of those years, taking the Championship in 1936. Richardson was educated at Winchester College and started his career at Derbyshire in the 1959 season, taking three wickets in his debut match against Worcestershire, and making his top score of 91 in his next match against Glamorgan. Against Kent, in one match he achieved his best bowling performance of 8 for 54 and in the other almost matched it with 7 for 31. Michael Allen (cricketer)
Michael Henry John Allen (7 January 1933 – 6 October 1995) was an English cricketer who played for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, Northamptonshire from 1956 to 1963 and Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire from 1964 to 1966. Allen was born in Bedford and attended Bedford School. A right-handed batsman and a left-arm slow bowler, he started his cricket career at Northamptonshire, who finished in fourth position in the County Championship in his debut season, 1956. Allen debuted against Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Worcestershire in May and played in more than half the matches in the season. In 1957, Allen moved into a regular first-team place and finished high in the bowling averages, as Northamptonshire finished second in the County Championship table.
