Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1963 was the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for ninety-two years. It was their fifty-ninth season in the County Championship and they won two championship matches and lost fourteen to finish seventeenth in the County Championship. It was the first season in which the Gillette Cup was played, and Derbyshire reached the quarter-finals. 1963 season Derbyshire played 28 games in the County Championship, one match against the Pakistani Eaglets, one against the touring West Indies and one match against Cambridge University. They won three first class matches, lost fifteen matches and drew thirteen matches. They won their first round match in the Gillette Cup, but lost in the quarter-final. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Pakistan Eaglets
Pakistan Eaglets were a team of young cricketers from Pakistan, founded by Justice A.R. Cornelius. They toured England and Wales every year from 1952 to 1959, Malaya and Ceylon in 1960-61, and England again in 1963. Most of their matches were non- first-class, but they played 11 first-class matches between 1960 and 1963. Many Pakistan Eaglets players went on to play Test cricket for Pakistan. Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Middlesex which has effectively been subsumed within the ceremonial county of Greater London. Cambridge University Cricket Club
Cambridge University Cricket Club, first recorded in 1817, is the representative cricket club for students of the University of Cambridge. Depending on the circumstances of each individual match, the club has always been recognised as holding first-class status. The university played List A cricket in 1972 and 1974 only. It has not played top-level Twenty20 cricket. With some 1,200 members, home matches are played at Fenner's. Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire. Les Jackson (cricketer)
Herbert Leslie Jackson (5 April 1921 – 25 April 2007) was an English professional cricketer. A fast or fast-medium bowler renowned for his accurate bowling and particular hostility on uncovered wickets, he played county cricket for Derbyshire from 1947 to 1963, and was regularly at, or near the top of, the English bowling averages. He played in only two Test matches for England, one in 1949 and a second in 1961. Jackson's absence from Test cricket was largely because his batting was so underdeveloped: his highest first-class score was 39 not out, and he reached 30 on only two other occasions. Between July 1949 and August 1950, Jackson indeed played fifty-one innings without reaching double figures, a number known to be exceeded only by Jem Shaw, Nobby Clark, Eric Hollies (twice), Brian Boshier and Mark Robinson. Ian Hall (cricketer)
Ian William Hall (born 27 December 1939) is an English former first-class cricketer and professional footballer. He played cricket for Derbyshire between 1959 and 1972, and played football for Derby County F.C. from 1959 to 1962 and for Mansfield Town F.C. from 1962 to 1968. Hall was born at Sutton Scarsdale, Derbyshire. He first played cricket for Derbyshire in 1955 in a junior match and in the following years played occasionally for the second XI in the Minor Counties Championship. He was also an England Schoolboy and Youth international footballer. Hall made his debut first-class appearance for Derbyshire in the 1959 season, in a win against Middlesex at Lord's when he made a duck in his second innings. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire.
