Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1926 represents the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for fifty five years. It was their twenty-eighth season in the County Championship and they won five matches to finish eleventh in the County Championship. 1926 season Derbyshire played 24 games in the County Championship, and one match against the touring Australians. The majority of matches were drawn, and Derbyshire suffered heavy defeats at the hands of champion county Lancashire. Guy Jackson was in his fifth season as captain. Harry Storer was top scorer and took 41 wickets as well. Stan Worthington took most wickets with 56. Neville Ford played the first of several seasons for Derbyshire but William Parrington appeared only in 1926. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Wilderness years 1888–1893 From 1888 Derbyshire's matches were not accorded first class status. Rutland Recreation Ground, Ilkeston
The Rutland Recreation Ground is a cricket ground in Ilkeston, Derbyshire (not the historical county of Rutland, as the name may suggest). The Derbyshire first XI played at the ground regularly between 1925 and 1994, with the ground hosting at least one County Championship match - and sometimes as many as three or four – each year until 1978. Worcestershire County Cricket Club
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. Its Vitality Blast T20 team has been rebranded the Worcestershire Rapids, but the county is known by most fans as 'the Pears'. The club is based at New Road, Worcester. Founded in 1865, Worcestershire held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship in the 1890s, winning the competition three times. Garnet Lee
Garnet Morley Lee (7 June 1887 – 29 February 1976) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire between 1910 and 1922 and for Derbyshire between 1925 and 1933. He scored nearly 15,000 runs in his first-class career. Lee was born at Calverton, Nottinghamshire. He joined the Nottinghamshire staff in 1905. and started playing for Nottinghamshire second XI in 1909. Towards the end of the 1910 season, he progressed to the county team making his debut in July against Sussex when he scored a duck and did not bowl. He played four first-class games in 1910. He played for the full season in 1911 without any spectacular performances, but in 1912 started to find batting form. In 1913 he scored 180 against Sussex and 200 not out in five hours against Leicestershire making this the only year he scored more than 1000 runs for Nottinghamshire. Founded in 1875, Somerset was initially regarded as a minor county until official first-class status was acquired in 1895. Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Gloucestershire. Founded in 1870, Gloucestershire have always been first-class and have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club played its first senior match in 1870 and W. G. Grace was their captain. The club plays home games at the Bristol County Ground in the Bishopston area of north Bristol. It has also been representative of the county of Rutland. The club's limited overs team is called the Leicestershire Foxes. Kent County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Kent. A club representing the county was first founded in 1842 but Kent teams have played top-class cricket since the early 18th century, and the club has always held first-class status. Sir Anthony Mather-Jackson, 6th Baronet
Sir Anthony Henry Mather-Jackson, 6th Baronet (9 November 1899 – 11 October 1983) was an English colliery owner and manufacturer. He was an all-round cricketer who played for Derbyshire from 1920 to 1927. Jackson was born in Westminster, the son of William Mather-Jackson and his wife Georgina Hallowes. He was educated at Harrow School, playing in the first XI in 1916 and 1917. He joined the Grenadier Guards. Jackson started his Derbyshire cricket career in the 1920 season, making his debut for Derbyshire against Nottinghamshire, and playing one further match in what was a very unsuccessful season for Derbyshire. He next played a full season in the 1922 season, scoring two half-centuries, including a career-best 75 against Leicestershire when with Wilfred Carter made a 182 eighth-wicket partnership, a record for the county which still stands today. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan ( cy, Morgannwg).
