Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1929 represents the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for fifty eight years. It was their thirty-first season in the County Championship and they came seventh in the competition after winning ten matches in the championship. 1929 season Derbyshire played 28 games in the County Championship, one match against Oxford University and one match against the touring South Africans. Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Derbyshire. Its limited overs team is called the Derbyshire Falcons in reference to the famous peregrine falcon which nests on the Derby Cathedral (it was previously called the Derbyshire Scorpions until 2005 and the Phantoms until 2010). Founded in 1870, the club held first-class status from its first match in 1871 until 1887. Because of poor performances and lack of fixtures in some seasons, Derbyshire then lost its status for seven seasons until it was invited into the County Championship in 1895. Hampshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Hampshire. Hampshire teams formed by earlier organisations, principally the Hambledon Club, always had first-class status and the same applied to the county club when it was founded in 1863. Because of poor performances for several seasons until 1885, Hampshire then lost its status for nine seasons until it was invited into the County Championship in 1895, since when the team have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. Oxford University Cricket Club (OUCC), which represents the University of Oxford, has always held first-class status since 1827 when it made its debut in the inaugural University Match between OUCC and Cambridge University Cricket Club (CUCC). Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. Its Vitality Blast T20 team has been rebranded the Worcestershire Rapids, but the county is known by most fans as 'the Pears'. The club is based at New Road, Worcester. Jim Hutchinson
James Metcalf Hutchinson (29 November 1896 – 7 November 2000) was an English first-class cricketer who played more than 250 matches for Derbyshire County Cricket Club between 1920 and 1931. Until September 2018, when John Manners took the record, Hutchinson's unique claim to fame was that, of all first-class cricketers around the world, he was the longest-lived whose age had been incontestably established. All but one of Hutchinson's 256 first-class matches were for Derbyshire. He was also selected for a Gentlemen v Players match at Blackpool in 1924, though neither team was of the strength usually sent out in the Lord's and Scarborough fixtures at this time, and the game was over in less than two days. Somerset County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Somerset. Archibald Slater
Archibald Gilbert Slater (22 November 1890 – 22 July 1949) was an English cricketer who played for Derbyshire between 1911 and 1931. Slater was born at Pilsley, Derbyshire the son of Henry Slater and his wife Sarah Bestwick His father had played for Derbyshire between 1882 and 1887. Slater made his debut for Derbyshire in the 1911 season in June in a win against Northamptonshire when he scored 43 not out in the first innings which was to remain his best score in the season. In the 1912 season his best bowling performance was 5–80. In the 1913 season his best bowling performance was 5–43. In the 1914 season his bowling took off when he took 69 wickets. His best performance that year was 6–19 and he had 3 other 5 wicket performances. In the same year, he scored 99 against Hampshire. Garnet Lee
Garnet Morley Lee (7 June 1887 – 29 February 1976) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire between 1910 and 1922 and for Derbyshire between 1925 and 1933. He scored nearly 15,000 runs in his first-class career. Lee was born at Calverton, Nottinghamshire. He joined the Nottinghamshire staff in 1905. and started playing for Nottinghamshire second XI in 1909. Towards the end of the 1910 season, he progressed to the county team making his debut in July against Sussex when he scored a duck and did not bowl. He played four first-class games in 1910. He played for the full season in 1911 without any spectacular performances, but in 1912 started to find batting form. In 1913 he scored 180 against Sussex and 200 not out in five hours against Leicestershire making this the only year he scored more than 1000 runs for Nottinghamshire. Stan Worthington
Thomas Stanley Worthington (21 August 1905 – 31 August 1973) was a cricketer who played for Derbyshire between 1923 and 1947 and for England between 1930 and 1937. He was an all-rounder, scoring over 19000 runs and taking over 600 first-class wickets. Career Worthington was born at Bolsover, Derbyshire and went to Netherthorpe Grammar School, Staveley, Derbyshire. He became an electrician with the Bolsover Colliery Company and played for the Colliery Club in the Bassetlaw League. Fred Tate, who was talent-spotting for Derbyshire, saw him and introduced him to the club in 1923. Worthington played his debut for Derbyshire in August 1924 against Nottinghamshire, his only game that year. Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. Its limited overs team is called the Sussex Sharks. The Rutland Recreation Ground is a cricket ground in Ilkeston, Derbyshire (not the historical county of Rutland, as the name may suggest).
