Der Teckbote is a German daily newspaper for the Swabian town of Kirchheim unter Teck. History The Teckbote was founded in 1832 under the title ''Wochenblatt für den Oberamtsbezirk Kirchheim unter Teck'' (''Weekly Newspaper for the district of Kirchheim unter Teck''). It switched to a daily newspaper in 1869, focusing on the political and cultural life in Kirchheim unter Teck. After the Second World War ban on newspapers ended, it reappeared under the name ''Teck-Rundschau'' in 1949. Since 1968, it has used Ulm-based ''Südwest Presse's'' outer jacket (''Mantel''). Swabia
Swabia ; german: Schwaben , colloquially ''Schwabenland'' or ''Ländle''; archaic English also Suabia or Svebia is a cultural, historic and linguistic region in southwestern Germany. The name is ultimately derived from the medieval Duchy of Swabia, one of the German stem duchies, representing the territory of Alemannia, whose inhabitants interchangeably were called '' Alemanni'' or '' Suebi''. This territory would include all of the Alemannic German area, but the modern concept of Swabia is more restricted, due to the collapse of the duchy of Swabia in the thirteenth century. Kirchheim Unter Teck
Kirchheim unter Teck ( Swabian: ''Kircha'') is a town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the district of Esslingen. It is located on the small river Lauter, a tributary of the Neckar. It is 10 km (6 miles) near the Teck castle, approximately southeast of Stuttgart. It is the fourth city in the Esslingen district, forming a district centre for the surrounding communities. Since 1 April 1956, Kirchheim unter Teck has the status of Große Kreisstadt. The city forms a ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' (administrative community) with the neighbouring municipalities Dettingen and Notzingen. Kirchheim unter Teck was also, for several centuries, seat of the Oberamt (Oa.) Kirchheim. ''Südwest Presse'' is a German daily newspaper based in Ulm, which is distributed in Ulm, Neu-Ulm, Alb-Donau-Kreis and Landkreis Neu-Ulm. It is also the name of a regional cooperative venture (called a ''Zeitungsverbund'' – newspaper composite) of over 20 local publications that share regional and national features.
