''Der Bockerer'' is a 1981 Austrian drama film directed by Franz Antel. It was entered into the 12th Moscow International Film Festival where Karl Merkatz won the award for Best Actor. Franz Antel
Franz Antel (28 June 1913 – 11 August 2007) was a veteran Austrian filmmaker. Born in Vienna, Antel worked mainly as a film producer in the interwar years. After World War II, he began writing and directing films on a large scale. In the late 1940s, 1950s and 1960s these were mainly comedies ( romantic, slapstick, and/or musical) and K.u.k. films' all of which, for Austrian and German TV stations alike, have been a staple of weekend afternoon programming ever since. In between there is quite a sober film about the Oberst (Colonel) Redl affair that shook the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy on the eve of World War I. Antel himself later commented on this period, "I always wanted to provide good entertainment for the people at the cinema. Austria has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1961. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. This is a list of submissions to the 54th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 54th Academy Awards, twenty-five films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Klausjürgen Wussow (30 April 1929 – 19 June 2007) was a German stage, film and television actor. Early life Wussow was born in Cammin, Province of Pomerania, Weimar Germany (modern Kamień Pomorski, Poland). His father was a teacher and cantor who died 1939 in the Second World War. Wussow had three brothers, an older and two younger (twins). His original career choice was to become a doctor. He couldn't become a doctor and so his new career choice was to become an actor. Career Wussow started with the theatre. From 1964 until 1986 he was a member of the famous theatre Burgtheater in Vienna, Austria.
