A deputy lieutenant of Greater London is commissioned by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London. Deputy lieutenants support the work of the lord-lieutenant. There can be several deputy lieutenants at any time, depending on the population of the county. Lord Lieutenant Of Greater London
The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London is the personal representative of the monarch, currently King Charles III, in Greater London. Each Lord-Lieutenant is assisted in, largely ceremonial, duties by Deputy Lieutenants whom he appoints; the Lieutenancy Office is based at Whitehall, London SW1. The Lord-Lieutenant is also assisted by a Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet, one from each branch of the main cadet forces, Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and Sea Cadet Corps. The cadet is selected by the Lord-Lieutenant. The Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet's are from the county of the Lord-Lieutenant. Michael Walsh (British Army Officer)
Major General Michael John Hatley Walsh, (10 June 1927 – 13 October 2015) was a British Army officer. He was the Scout Association's Chief Scout from 1982 to 1988. Education Walsh was born on 10 June 1927 in Harrogate, West Riding of Yorkshire. He was educated at two independent schools: at Clifton House School in Harrogate, Yorkshire and at Sedbergh School in Cumbria, and was a member of the local Scout Troop. He attained the King's Scout Award with the added distinction of Gold Cords, indicating it as the highest award available in Scouting at the time. General Sir William Gerald Hugh Beach, (20 May 1923 – 4 September 2019) was a British Army officer who, in retirement, researched and advised on defence policy, arms control and disarmament, with an interest in promoting concerns about ethical issues of peace and war. Early life Beach was educated at Winchester College, Peterhouse, Cambridge (MA 1961) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc 1971). Military career Beach joined the Corps of Royal Engineers in August 1941. He saw active service in France and Belgium in 1944 and in Java in 1946. Sir Horace Walter Cutler (28 July 1912 – 2 March 1997) was a British Conservative politician who served as leader of the Greater London Council from 1977 to 1981. Sir William "Kirby" Laing (21 July 1916 – 12 April 2009) was a British civil engineer. Career Laing was born in Carlisle in 1916.. He was a member of the Laing Family, famous in the British construction industry for running John Laing plc. He was the son of Sir John Laing and the brother of Sir Maurice Laing. Arthur Ernest Wicks (1915–2006) was a Labour politician and the last chairman of the London County Council.
