Deputy Governor Of Lagos State
The deputy governor of Lagos State is the second-highest officer in the executive branch of the government of Lagos State, after the governor of Lagos State, and ranks first in line of succession. The deputy governor is directly elected together with the governor to a four-year term of office. Femi Hamzat is the current deputy governor of Lagos State, he assumed office on 29 May 2019. Qualifications As in the case of the Governor, in order to be qualified to be elected as Deputy Governor, a person must: :*be at least thirty-five (35) years of age; :*be a Nigerian citizen by birth; :*be a member of a political party with endorsement by that political party; :*have School Certificate or its equivalent. Responsibilities The Deputy Governor assists the Governor in exercising primary assignments and is also eligible to replace a dead, impeached, absent or ill Governor as required by the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (born 19 September 1964) is a Nigerian politician who serves as the Deputy Governor of Lagos State. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria into the family of Late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat and Late Alhaja Kehinde Hamzat from Iga Egbe, Lagos state. His father, Late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat served as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and as a Commissioner for Transportation in the state (1979 – 1983) before becoming the Vice-chairman SW of then Alliance for Democracy(AD). 2003 Lagos State Gubernatorial Election
The 2003 Lagos State gubernatorial election occurred on 19 April 2003. Incumbent Governor AD's Bola Tinubu won election for a second term, defeating PDP's Funsho Williams and four other candidates. Bola Tinubu emerged unopposed in the AD gubernatorial primary after all the aspirants stepped down. He had Femi Pedro as his running mate. Funsho Williams was the PDP candidate. Olufemi "Femi" Olusegun Pedro (born 29 January 1955) is a Nigerian politician who served as deputy governor of Lagos State from 2003 to 2007. Before his election alongside Bola Tinubu, he was a co-owner and the chief executive officer of First Atlantic Bank, now FinBank. Bola Tinubu
Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu (born 29 March 1952) is a Nigerian accountant and politician who served as the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and Senator for Lagos West during the brief Third Republic. Alliance For Democracy (Nigeria)
The Alliance for Democracy is a progressive opposition political party in Nigeria. It was formed on 9 September 1998. At the 2003 legislative elections, 12 April 2003, the party won 8.8% of the popular vote and 34 out of 360 seats in the Nigerian House of Representatives and 18 out of 109 seats in the Nigerian Senate. Sir Michael Otedola (16 July 1926 – 5 May 2014) was a Nigerian politician who served as Governor of Lagos State during the Nigerian Third Republic. He was born on the 16 July 1926 into a Muslim family at Odoragunsin, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State. He died on 5 May 2014 at his residence in his home town of Epe, Lagos. The National Republican Convention was a Nigerian political party established by the government of General Ibrahim Babangida and ultimately disbanded by the military regime of General Sani Abacha in 1993.
