Deposed Princess Yeondeok
Deposed Princess Yeondeok of the Incheon Yi clan (; d. 4 August 1139) was a Korean queen consort as the 1st wife of her nephew, King Injong of Goryeo. It was said that she was possessed beauty and gentleness, no distortion in adorning her character. She was the second, alongside Queen Sundeok (initially older sister and later mother-in-law) and Princess Bokchang. Life Before married Injong, he still afraid if her father, Yi Ja-gyeom (이자겸), who was the most powerful man at that time, gave the throne to another princes, then his power would be dispersed and disappeared, so he forced her to become his Queen Consort. On 8th months 1124 (lunar calendar), she formally become his Queen consort, entered the Palace and was honoured as Princess Yeondeok (연덕궁주, 延德宮主). Dongguk Tonggam
The Dongguk Tonggam (''Comprehensive Mirror of the eastern state'') is a chronicle of the early history of Korea compiled by Seo Geo-jeong (1420–1488) and other scholars in the 15th century. Originally commissioned by King Sejo in 1446, it was completed under the reign of Seongjong of Joseon, in 1485. The official Choe Bu was one of the scholars who helped compile and edit the work. The earlier works on which it may have been based have not survived. The ''Dongguk Tonggam'' is the earliest extant record to list the names of the rulers of Gojoseon after Dangun. Content ''Dongguk Tonggam'' uses an annal form. ''Dongguk Tonggam'' is organised into 382 passages, of which 178 were selected from existing documents. The rest was written by the authors. In particular, Choi Bu authored 118 of them. Dongguk Tonggam is a valuable source of historical information and descriptions from Tangun to the later years of the Joseon Dynasty. Goryeosa
The ''Goryeosa'' (), or ''History of Goryeo'', is the main surviving historical record of Korea's Goryeo dynasty. It was composed nearly a century after the fall of Goryeo, during the reign of King Sejong, undergoing repeated revisions between 1392 and 1451. He ordered a committee of scholars led by Kim Jongseo and Jeong Inji to compile it, based on primary and secondary sources that are no longer extant. The ''Goryeo-sa'', written using Hanja script, consists of 139 volumes, 46 of which consist of chronicles, 39 of geography, 2 of Chronological tables, 50 of Biographies, and 2 of lists. The document has been digitized by the National Institute of Korean History and available online with Modern Korean translation in Hangul and original text in Hanja script. Goryeo
Goryeo (; ) was a Korean kingdom founded in 918, during a time of national division called the Later Three Kingdoms period, that unified and ruled the Korean Peninsula until 1392. Goryeo achieved what has been called a "true national unification" by Korean historians as it not only unified the Later Three Kingdoms but also incorporated much of the ruling class of the northern kingdom of Balhae, who had origins in Goguryeo of the earlier Three Kingdoms of Korea. The name "Korea" is derived from the name of Goryeo, also spelled Koryŏ, which was first used in the early 5th century by Goguryeo. According to Korean historians, it was during the Goryeo period that the individual identities of Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla were successfully merged into a single entity that became the basis of modern-day 'Korean' identity. A lunar calendar is a calendar based on the monthly cycles of the Moon's phases (synodic months, lunations), in contrast to solar calendars, whose annual cycles are based only directly on the solar year.
