Deportivo Municipal
Club Centro Deportivo Municipal, commonly known as Deportivo Municipal, is a Peruvian Association football, football club based in Lima, Peru. They are among Peru's most recognizable clubs and enjoy considerable popularity. The bulk of their success came a few years after the club was founded in 1935. The club was a top-flight contender during this period and won four Peruvian Primera División, Primera División titles. The club suffered relegation three times in their history: 1967, 2000, and 2007. They have also been champions of the Peruvian Segunda División, Segunda División on three occasions: 1968, 2006, and 2014, granting them promotion to the first division. They currently compete in the Peruvian Tercera División. Deportivo Municipal was one of the first Peruvian clubs to participate in a South American international football competition. Estadio Municipal De Chorrillos
Estadio Municipal de Chorrillos is a municipal stadium in the Chorrillos District, Lima, Peru. It opened in 1993, and holds 12,000 people. The stadium's nickname is Cancha de los Muertos (''Field of the Dead'') because the stadium was built over a cemetery. It is the home stadium of Deportivo Municipal. History The Estadio Municipal de Chorrilo was opened in 1993, inaugurated during the 1993 Torneo Descentralizado between Deportivo Municipal against Cienciano. The stadium was left abandoned during the late 2010s and as a result, Deportivo Municipal moved to the Estadio Iván Elías Moreno located in the district of Villa El Salvador. In 2025, the stadium was renovated and Deportivo Municipal returned back for their participation in the Peruvian Tercera División. 2000 Torneo Descentralizado
The 2000 season of the Torneo Descentralizado was the 85th season of the top category of Peruvian football (soccer). It was played by 12 teams. The national champion was Universitario. Competition modus The national championship was divided into two tournaments, the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura. Each was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. The winners of each would play for the national title in a play-off, but since the same club had won both tournaments, it automatically won the national championship. Following-season Copa Libertadores berths went to the champion, as well as to each of the half-year tournament's runners-up, who held a play-off as a formality to decide the overall season runners-up. Club Universitario de Deportes is a Peruvian sports club based in Lima, which has Association football, soccer as its main activity. It also has women's football, volleyball and basketball sections. The 1981 Torneo Descentralizado was the sixty-fifth season of Peruvian football. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament. The season was divided into two phases. Melgar won its first national title and become the first club outside the Lima Region to win the title. Format The national league was divided into two phases. The first phase divided the sixteen teams into groups. Each team was placed into one of four groups depending on the region where the club was located. This dubbed regional tournament was contested in this season because the Peru national football team was using domestic players in preparation for the 1982 World Cup Qualifiers. Hugo Alejandro Sotil Yerén (18 May 1949 – 30 December 2024) was a Peruvian professional footballer. Nicknamed ''El Cholo'', he played as a striker or midfielder. Together with Teófilo Cubillas and Héctor Chumpitaz, he was one of Peru's most recognized football players of the 1970s. He also was a popular player in Peru, and a biopic on his life was released in that decade. He was a member of the Peru national team that won the 1975 Copa América and reached the quarterfinals in Mexico 1970 and Argentina 1978. Sotil made his professional debut in 1967, standing out with Deportivo Municipal and became one of the most popular players in Peru.
