Club Deportivo Mandiyú, also referred as Mandiyú is an Argentine football club, based in Corrientes, in the Province of the same name. The squad currently plays in the regionalised 4th level of Argentine football league system, the Torneo Argentino B. History Foundation and regional success The club was founded under the name "Club Deportivo Tipoiti" on December 14, 1952, by a group of textile workers from the Tipoiti textile factory in Corrientes, Argentina. Because the Argentine Football Association did not accept commercial company names, the club had to change its name to "Club Deportivo Mandiyú", which means cotton in the indigenous language of Guaraní. Copa Libertadores
The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as the Copa Libertadores de América ( pt, Copa Libertadores da América), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football. The tournament is named after the ''Libertadores'' (Spanish and Portuguese for ''liberators''), the leaders of the Latin American wars of independence, so a literal translation of its former name into English is "''America's Liberators Cup''". Club Social y Deportivo Textil Mandiyú, commonly referred as Textil Mandiyú was an Argentine football club, based in Corrientes, in the Province of the same name. The squad currently plays in the regionalised third tier of Argentine football league system, the Torneo Federal A. History In 1993, Deportivo Mandiyú chairman Eduardo Seferian tried the club to become a S.A. as a way to solve the serious economic problems of the institution but the Argentine Football Association did not allow the transaction. Nevertheless, in 1994 member of Argentine Parliament Roberto Cruz and San Lorenzo leading Roberto Navarro acquired the club for U$S 2 million. Sergio Javier Goycochea (; born 17 October 1963) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is best known for helping his country reach the 1990 FIFA World Cup Final with his penalty kick saves. Career Goycochea was the substitute for Nery Pumpido both in River Plate and in the Argentina national team, and got his big break in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. When Pumpido broke his leg in Argentina's second group game against the Soviet Union, Goycochea stepped in and remained the team's starting goalkeeper for the remainder of the tournament. Félix Ricardo Torres Rodríguez (born 28 April 1964) is a former football striker and coach from Paraguay.
