Ray Barrett
Raymond Charles Barrett (2 May 19278 September 2009) was an Australian actor. During the 1960s, he was a leading actor on British television, where he was best known for his appearances in ''The Troubleshooters'' (1965–1971). From the 1970s, he appeared in lead and character roles in Australian films and TV series. Early life Barrett was born in Brisbane, Queensland and was educated at Windsor State Primary School and at Brisbane State High School. Fascinated by radio from an early age, he won an on-air talent competition in 1939, at the age of 12: an eisteddfod that was broadcast on 4BH radio, with a musical monologue about a dog called "Paddy". This was to place him on a path different from his dream of becoming a boatbuilder. In 1949, Barrett was initiated into Freemasonry as an initiate and member of Empire Lodge #197 of the United Grand Lodge of Queensland. Martin Kevin Vaughan (5 June 1931 – October 2022) was an Australian stage, television and film actor and musician. He is best known for appearing in the film Phar Lap as trainer Harry Telford and the lead role in the award-winning 26-part 1976 television miniseries ''Power Without Glory''. Career Vaughan was born in Brisbane, Queensland, to a vaudeville comedian father in 1931. Moving to Sydney, New South Wales. at age 17, he was employed in a number of occupations including steam presser, tram conductor, postman, customs clerk and bassoon player. Gary Day (born 10 November 1941) is a New Zealand former actor, playwright and lighting director who has appeared in Australian television police drama series, including ''Homicide'' and ''Murder Call''. Television Day worked as a male model and appeared in several television commercials. This led to guest roles in episodes of '' Skippy the Bush Kangaroo'', police dramas ''The Link Men'', '' The Long Arm'', ''Homicide'' and ''Matlock Police'' produced by Crawford Productions. This culminated in the regular role of Senior Detective Phillip Redford in Crawford's series ''Homicide'' in 1973. Redford was a university graduate who had served as a bomb disposal expert in Vietnam, and was anti-violence as a result. Australian Theatre Festival
The Australian Theatre Festival was a series of adaptations of Australian plays filmed by the ABC in 1979-80. Six plays were filmed in all at an estimated budget of $5,000 an episode. They aired on Sunday night opposite movies on the commercial channels. They were partly inspired by a government ruling that the ABC could keep any money it made selling projects overseas. The series was not a ratings success.
