Poverty is the state of having few material possessions or little income. Poverty can have diverse social, economic, and political causes and effects. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is a department of His Majesty's Government responsible for environmental protection, food production and standards, agriculture, fisheries and rural communities in the United Kingdom.
