Wakken
Wakken is a village and ''deelgemeente'' in Dentergem municipality, in the Belgium, Belgian province of West Flanders. The village is located near the confluence of the rivers Lys (river), Lys and Mandel (river), Mandel. History Wakken is one of the seven oldest parishes in West Flanders. A charter dated to 791 makes the first known mention of Wakken: "in villa noncupante Wackinio." The spelling of the name has changed several times throughout history: Wackine (870), Wackinna (1010), Wachines (1183), Wackene (1351), Wacken (1467) and Wakken (since 1915). In the Middle Ages, Wakken was a City rights in the Low Countries, city without city gates. The fiefdom was owned by the Lords of Harelbeke. The Arrondissement of Tielt ( nl, Arrondissement Tielt; french: Arrondissement de Tielt) is one of the eight administrative arrondissements in the Province of West Flanders, Belgium. History The Arrondissement of Tielt was created in 1818 and originally comprised the cantons of Ruiselede and Tielt, which were ceded from the Arrondissement of Bruges, and the canton of Meulebeke, which was ceded from the Arrondissement of Kortrijk. In 1823, the Arrondissement of Torhout and Wakken ceased to exist and, as a result, a number of municipalities which had previously been a part of the Arrondissement of Torhout and the canton of Oostrozebeke were added to the arrondissement. Tielt (; french: Thielt) is a Belgian city and municipality in the province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the town of Tielt proper and the villages of Aarsele, Kanegem, and Schuiferskapelle. History Some traces of Gallo-Roman occupation have been found in this area. Deinze () is a city and a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. Zulte () is a Belgian municipality located in Flanders and in the Flemish province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Machelen, and Zulte proper. In 2021, Zulte had a total population of 15,843. The total area is 32.52 km2. The town used to have its own beer since 1891 (simply called Zulte) but today they are part of Alken-Maes breweries.
