Dent D'Oche
The Dent d'Oche is a mountain in the Haute-Savoie region of France, in the Chablais massif, near the Swiss-French border, that rises to in altitude. It towers above Évian, Thonon, and Lake Geneva. It offers a view of the French and Swiss Alps and the Swiss prealps. It is the northernmost summit above in France. About below the summit is a refuge of the French Alpine Club, the ''refuge de la Dent d'Oche''. In summer, the refuge and the summit can be reached by a hike that is doable without special equipment, but significantly more difficult than the usual routes to nearby peaks such as Cornettes de Bise and Le Grammont Le Grammont is a mountain in the Chablais Alps, near Le Bouveret in Valais. Swisstopo
Swisstopo is the official name for the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (in German language, German: ''Bundesamt für Landestopografie''; French language, French: ''Office fédéral de topographie''; Italian language, Italian: ''Ufficio federale di topografia''; Romansh language, Romansh: ''Uffizi federal da topografia''), Switzerland's national mapping agency. Cornettes De Bise
The Cornettes de Bise is a mountain in the Chablais Alps, overlooking Lake Geneva. At 2,432 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit of the subrange running from Pas de Morgins to Lake Geneva. The mountain is located on the border between France (west) and Switzerland (east). Nearest localities are Miex (Valais) and La Chapelle-d'Abondance (Haute Savoie). Chablais Alps
The Chablais Alps are a mountain range in the western Alps. They are situated between Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc Massif. The Col des Montets separates them from the Mont Blanc Massif in the south, and the Rhône valley separates them from the Bernese Alps in the east. Évian
Evian ( , ; , stylized as evian) is a French company that bottles and commercialises mineral water from several sources near Évian-les-Bains, on the south shore of Lake Geneva. It produces over 2 billion plastic bottles per year. Today, Evian is owned by Danone, a French multinational corporation. In addition to the mineral water, Danone Group uses the Evian name for a line of organic skin care products as well as a luxury resort in France. Thonon-les-Bains (; frp, Tonon), often simply referred to as Thonon, is a subprefecture of the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Eastern France. Le Grammont
Le Grammont is a mountain in the Chablais Alps, near Le Bouveret in Valais. At 2,172 metres above sea level, it is one of the highest peaks overlooking Lake Geneva. Various trails lead to the summit, mostly from the southern side. On the way to the summit, there is a mountain lake, the Lac de Taney. The Tauredunum event of AD 563 is thought to have occurred on the slopes of Le Grammont, named for a Roman-era fortress situated close to the point where the Rhône flows into Lake Geneva. During the Second World War, there is a recorded incident of a Avro Lancaster, Lancaster of the Royal Air Force getting shot down by the Swiss anti-aircraft gunners and crashing into the mountain.
