Denmark National Australian Rules Football Team
The Vikings ( da, Vikinger) are Denmark's national Australian rules football team. The team formed in 1992 to play the North London Lions from the British Australian Rules Football League in Denmark. The Vikings represent the best Danish born players selected from the clubs of the Danish Australian Football League. The Vikings wear the national colours of red and white, with the top half of Australian rules football in the shape of a horned "Viking" helmet. Proper internationals began in 1994 when Denmark played an international in England. In 1995, the DAFL took a decision to exclude Australians from its national team. Since then, the Vikings have participated in the inaugural 2002 Australian Football International Cup held in Melbourne (finishing 4th). The national team was one of two teams (the other being Nauru) that withdrew from the 2005 tournament due to an inability of the Danish league to finance the trip. Great Britain National Australian Rules Football Team
The Great Britain men's national Australian rules football team is known as the Great Britain Bulldogs. The team is made up of the best British born players selected from clubs of in England, Wales and Scotland, and occasional appearances from British players playing for clubs in Australia. In AFL Europe, separate national teams represent England, Wales and Scotland. As well as regular international friendlies, the team has played in every Australian Football International Cup since its inception in 2002. They also compete at the triennial AFL Europe Championship, winning the 2016 edition in London after beating the Irish Warriors 7.9 (51) to 4.5 (29). 2011 Australian Football International Cup
The 2011 Australian Football International Cup (or IC21) is the fourth edition of the Australian Football International Cup, an international Australian rules football competition run by the Australian Football League. It was contested between 12 and 27 August 2011 by 18 nations, with games played in both Melbourne and Sydney. Two matches were played as curtain raisers to AFL premiership matches, USA vs South Africa at Stadium Australia and the IC Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ireland won its second men's championship, and the inaugural women's championship (Ryan Aslett Cup). The Dansk Australsk Fodbold Liga (Eng: Danish Australian Football League) is the controlling body and main league for the sport of Australian rules football in Denmark. Founded in 1989, regular competition commenced in 1991. Despite being predominantly Danish, the league includes clubs in Scania (Swedish: ''Skåne'', southernmost region of Sweden). Participation DAFL is often considered the largest and most successful Australian Rules football competition outside the English speaking world with hundreds of participants playing on tailor-made ovals each weekend across the country.
