Arthur Dendy
Arthur Dendy (20 January 1865, in Manchester – 24 March 1925, in London) was an English zoologist known for his work on marine sponges and the terrestrial invertebrates of Victoria, Australia, notably including the "living fossil" '' Peripatus''. He was in turn professor of zoology in New Zealand, in South Africa and finally at King's College London. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society. Family life Dendy's parents were John Dendy, a silk fabric maker of Manchester, and Sarah Beard, daughter of John Relly Beard. His sisters included Mary Dendy and Helen Bosanquet. He married Ada Margaret Courtauld on 5 December 1888. They had four children, three daughters—including the artist Vera Ellen Poole (1890–1965)—and one son. Edward Stephen Dendy
Edward Stephen Dendy (24 June 1812 – 15 May 1864) was a long-serving officer of arms at the College of Arms during the nineteenth Century. He was one of ten children born to Stephen Cooper Dendy and Miramne Dubbins in Horsham, Sussex, England. He was a younger brother to prominent surgeon Walter Cooper Dendy, and one of his sisters, Amelia Dendy, became the wife of Edward Howard Howard-Gibbon. He kept a diary for a number of years that reveals a great deal not only about his daily life and work, but also about his activities with the Howard-Gibbon family. Edward became an officer in the College when appointed as Rouge Dragon Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary in 1848. He also served as Surrey Herald Extraordinary in 1856, and was promoted to Chester Herald of Arms in Ordinary in 1859. Henry Dendy
Henry Dendy (1800-1881) was born in Abinger, Surrey, England. He is best known for his purchase in 1841 of , or eight square miles, of land approximately 12 km south-east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The land, known as Dendy's Special Survey, was purchased from the Crown for one pound an acre under the terms of the short-lived Special Survey regulations. Dendy established the township of Brighton on his land purchase. Dendy is also associated with Eltham, Victoria where he was an early settler and operated a flour mill. A depression hit the colony in 1843 and Dendy was bankrupted in 1845. Marquis Dendy (born November 17, 1992) is an American track and field athlete, primarily known for horizontal jumping events. He is the 2015 National Champion in the Long Jump. His winning jump, of , though wind aided at +3.7mps, his first jump of the competition, was the longest jump in the world under any conditions in over 5 years. He grew up in Middletown, Delaware. Dendy (russian: Де́нди) is a series of home video game consoles, an unofficial hardware clone of Nintendo's third-generation Famicom. Dendy was produced by Steepler since late 1992, and assembled in Taiwan from Chinese components. It was mainly sold in Russia and post-Soviet countries. Manufacturing assembly grew to add the Subor factory in China and at Tenzor factory in Dubna town in Russia. The Dendy lineup was divided into two categories: the basic Dendy Classic and the budget Dendy Junior, which differ in design, quality, and price. The Classic is a copy of the Micro Genius console of Taiwan TXC Corporation and was produced in the same factory. The Junior was made from cheaper system on a chip technology specifically for Steepler. A Dendy Pro version with one wired and one wireless gamepad was sold from only one small batch. Dendy Cinema Pty Limited is an Australian cinema chain. Dendy operates in Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney and the Gold Coast. Its main competitors are Hoyts, Village, Event, Wallis Cinemas, Palace Cinemas and Reading. It is a subsidiary of Icon Productions. Icon Productions is a production company founded in August 1989 by actor/director Mel Gibson and Australian producing partner Bruce Davey, which, unlike most other independent production companies, funds most of its development and production costs, allowing it to retain creative control of its projects.
