Denby High School
The Edwin C. Denby High School is a public secondary education school located at 12800 Kelly Road in northeastern Detroit, Michigan. Denby High opened in 1930, and the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. It is a part of Detroit Public Schools Community District. History The school was named for Edwin C. Denby, an attorney and former Michigan legislator. Mr. Denby served as Secretary of the Navy during the administration of Warren G. Harding. Denby was forced to resign his position and narrowly avoided criminal indictment for his role in what came to be known as the Teapot Dome scandal. Denby died in 1929, and the Detroit School Board quickly voted to name a new high school after him "at the earliest opportunity." Later in 1929, the school board authorized the construction of this school and hired the firm of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls to design it. Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is a school district that covers all of the city of Detroit, Michigan, United States and high school students in the insular city of Highland Park. The district, which replaced the original Detroit Public Schools (DPS) in 2016, provides services to approximately 50,000 students, making it the largest school district in the state. Carl Antonio Granger (born June 6, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player. At 2.01 m (6 ft 7 in) tall, he played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. Wayne Dyer
Wayne Walter Dyer (May 10, 1940 – August 29, 2015) was an American self-help author and a motivational speaker. Dyer completed a Ed.D. in guidance and counseling at Wayne State University in 1970. Early in his career, he worked as a high school guidance counselor, and went on to run a successful private therapy practice. Sherie Weil, known professionally as Kim Carson, is an American radio personality. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Denby High School. Carson was the first full-time female air personality at a number of stations she worked at including 93FM WDRQ/Detroit. The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. Edward Leon Budde (born November 2, 1940) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive guard for the Kansas City Chiefs in the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL). High school and college A product of Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan, and later Michigan State University, Budde was chosen as the number one draft pick of the American Football League's Kansas City Chiefs in 1963. Bill Bonds (February 23, 1932 – December 13, 2014) was an American television news anchor and reporter, best known for his work at WXYZ-TV in Detroit, Michigan. Bonds became an Action News anchorman beginning in the early 1970s. Early career He was born on February 23, 1932. Victor Alexander
Victor Joe Alexander (born August 31, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. Listed at 6'10" (2.08 m) tall, and 265 pounds (120 kg) in weight, he played as a center and power forward. College career Alexander was considered one of the top low-post scorers in Iowa State history. The burly center was named a First-Team All- Big Eight choice in 1989 and 1991, and his 1,892 career points scored ranks fourth all-time in the school's history.
