Den Helder Railway Station
Den Helder is a Terminus railway station in the naval town of Den Helder, The Netherlands. The station opened on 20 December 1865, and is the most northerly station in North Holland. The station is the start of the Den Helder–Amsterdam railway. The original station building was demolished in 1958 and a new building was built, a bit further south than the previous one. The railway line was electrified in 1958. The station now has three platforms. De Koog
De Koog is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Texel, and lies about 17 km north of Den Helder. It is the chief centre of tourism on the island, surrounded with many hotels and campgrounds. The village is located on the North Sea coast of the island. Anna Paulowna
Anna Paulowna () is a former municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The former municipality derives its name from the Anna Paulownapolder, which was laid dry in 1846 during the reign of King William II of the Netherlands and in turn named after his wife, Queen Anna Paulowna of Russia. Since 2012, Anna Paulowna has been a part of the new municipality of Hollands Kroon. Wieringerwerf
Wieringerwerf is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Hollands Kroon, and lies about southeast of Den Helder. It is situated in a polder. The elevation of the village is below sea level. Dikes and pumping engines keep the land dry. History In 1936 the construction of the village began, a few years after the reclamation of the polder. Because of an employment project that was subsidised by the state, inhabitants from all over the country came to the Wieringermeer to help build an infrastructure. In only short time houses, shops, churches and schools rose in Wieringerwerf. Near the town a "terp" was built, an artificial hill that could serve as a refuge in case of an eventual bursting of the IJsselmeer dike. On 1 July 1941 Wieringermeer became an independent municipality. On 29 September of the same year, the first inhabitants of the new land gave a memorial to the new mayor and aldermen. Hippolytushoef
Hippolytushoef, abbreviated locally as Hippo, is a town in the western Netherlands, located in the municipality of Hollands Kroon, North Holland, 14 km east of Den Helder. History The village was first mentioned in 1343 or 1344 as "van Ypolshove", and is a combination of "farmland" and Hippolytus of Rome. Hippolytushoef was the main village of the former island Wieringen and originates in the 12th century. The Dutch Reformed church is a single aisled church with a large tower with brick spire. The tower dates from the 13th century and the spire was added in the 15th century. In 1674, the church was destroyed and rebuilt the next year. In 1893, the choir collapsed and was rebuilt 1895 by Joseph Cuypers. Hippolytushoef was home to 340 people in 1840. Texel (; Texels dialect: ) is a municipality and an island with a population of 13,643 in North Holland, Netherlands. Den Burg is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Texel on the island of the same name, and lies about 12 km north of Den Helder. Overview Located in the middle of the island, Den Burg is the largest town of Texel. It features a historic centre and also the town hall. Outdoor markets are held each week in the main square.
