Democrats (Slovakia)
The Democrats ( sk, Demokrati, D), during 2018 – 2023 known as TOGETHER – Civic Democracy ( sk, SPOLU – občianska demokracia) and later the Blue Coalition ( sk, Modrá koalícia, MK), is a Slovak political party founded in 2018 by Miroslav Beblavý. The party has changed leadership multiple times and is led by the former prime minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger since 7 March 2023. Ideology TOGETHER – Civic Democracy was a centre-right conservative liberal and liberal conservative party. SPOLU was placed as centrist or centre-right on the political spectrum. The current leader of the party Eduard Heger presents the party as centrist, pro-Europanist, pro-NATO and green. Eduard Heger
Eduard Heger (; born 3 May 1976) is a Slovak politician, serving as Prime Minister of Slovakia since 1 April 2021. He previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Igor Matovič. Heger is a member of the presidium of the populist movement Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO). Early life Heger was born in 1976 in Bratislava to parents employed in culture. His father, a member of the Communist party, organized big music festivals, which allowed young Heger to meet many local high profile musicians. His family was not religious, but Heger embraced Catholic charismatic renewal as a young adult after the death of his father. Prior to his entry to politics, he was professionally involvement in management of the Charismatic Christian communities in Slovakia. Regions Of Slovakia
Since 1949 (except 1990–1996), Slovakia has been divided into a number of ''kraje'' (singular ''kraj''; usually translated as "Regions" with capital R). Their number, borders and functions have been changed several times. There are eight regions of Slovakia and they correspond to the EU's NUTS 3 level of local administrative units. Centrism is a political outlook or position involving acceptance or support of a balance of social equality and a degree of social hierarchy while opposing political changes that would result in a significant shift of society strongly to the left or the right. A political spectrum is a system to characterize and classify different political positions in relation to one another. These positions sit upon one or more geometric axes that represent independent political dimensions. Liberal conservatism is a political ideology combining conservative policies with liberal stances, especially on economic issues but also on social and ethical matters, representing a brand of political conservatism strongly influenced by liberalism.
