An electoral alliance (also known as a bipartisan electoral agreement, electoral pact, electoral agreement, electoral coalition or electoral bloc) is an association of political party, political parties or individuals that exists solely to stand in elections. Each of the parties within the alliance has its own policy, policies but chooses temporarily to put aside differences in favour of common goals and ideology in order to pool their voters' support and get elected. Sam Rainsy Party
The Candlelight Party ( km, គណបក្សភ្លើងទៀន) is a liberal party in Cambodia. The party was a member of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, Liberal International, and the Alliance of Democrats. It is the largest opposition party in Cambodia, and the main challenger to the ruling Cambodian People's Party. The party resumed political activity in October 2021 after being inactive since 2012. The party, founded in 1995 as the Khmer Nation Party, renamed the Sam Rainsy Party in 1998, and recently in 2018, it was renamed the Candlelight Party. This party is currently the official opposition to the ruling Cambodian People's Party. Human Rights Party (Cambodia)
The Human Rights Party ( km, គណបក្សសិទ្ធិមនុស្ស) was a Cambodian political party founded on 22 July 2007 by Kem Sokha. Critics allege that its foundation is meant to weaken opposition parties and is driven by the ruling party. This sentiment, however, seems to be driven by the ruling party themselves as Kem Sokha has long been a very vocal critic of the ruling Cambodian People's Party. At the time of its foundation, the party claimed to have between 200,000 and 500,000 members nationwide. Human Rights Party is the first party in Cambodia to adopt the check and balance system, changing the culture of one-man-ruling parties, which most parties in Cambodia adopt.
