Demi Stokes
Demi Lee Courtney Stokes (born 12 December 1991) is an English professional footballer who plays for Manchester City and the England national team. She previously played for Sunderland in the English FA Women's Premier League. Club career Stokes joined Sunderland's youth academy as an 8-year-old and began playing in the first team at 16. She was part of the team which won the 2008–09 FA Women's Premier League Northern Division and lost the 2009 FA Women's Cup final 2–1 to Arsenal. She accepted a four-year scholarship to the University of South Florida in 2011. In 2012 Stokes played 13 games for Vancouver Whitecaps in the pro-am North American W-League. In January 2015, Stokes signed a three-year professional contract with Manchester City. The FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division is a league at the third-level in the women's football league pyramid in England, along with the Southern division. These two divisions are part of the FA Women's National League and below the Women's Super League and Women's Championship. The league is played on a home and away basis, with each team playing each other twice, and points being awarded in the standard three points for a win format. The UEFA Women's U-19 Championship 2010 Final Tournament was held in Macedonia between 24 May and 5 June 2010. Players born after 1 January 1991 were eligible to participate in this competition. The USL Championship (USLC) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club is a Canadian professional soccer team based in Vancouver. They compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. The MLS iteration of the club was established on March 18, 2009, and began play in 2011 as the 17th team to enter Major League Soccer while replacing the USSF Division 2 team of the same name in the city, making them a phoenix club and the third to carry the Whitecaps name.
