Delta Force Football Club is a football team based in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. They play at Jay Jay Okocha Stadium. History The State bought over an amateur slot in 2003 and gained promotion to the then Second Division within a season.. They ended their 2009 season in fifth place of the Nigeria National League after challenging for promotion the whole season. They were disbanded by the Delta State government for lack of funds after the 2009 season but eventually reinstated to their slot in the league. They were similarly disbanded in 2008 after players protested lack of funds, but the state agreed to bring them back for the 2008–09 season. They were resurrected again in 2015 and played in the Nigeria National League. In March 2019 they bought the slot of Kada City F.C. and took over Kada's schedule in the NPFL eleven games into the season. Kada City took over Delta's spot in the NNL. Jay Jay Okocha Stadium is a stadium in Ogwashi-Uku, Anioma, Aniocha South, Nigeria named after former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and the home stadium of Delta Force F.C. Ogwashi-Uku
Ogwashi Ukwu, sometimes spelt as Ogwashi-Uku, is an Igbo town in Delta State, Nigeria. Located west of the state capital Asaba, and is the headquarters for the Local Government Area, Aniocha South. The population of Ogwashi-Ukwu is about 50,234.. However, its number has increased vastly and keeps increasing. It is one of the Anioma region of Delta State which is home to the Igbo-speaking people of Delta State. Its natives are the Enuani people, who are predominantly farmers and fishers. Asaba, Nigeria
Asaba is the capital city of Delta State, Nigeria. It is located at the western bank of the Niger River, in the Oshimili South Local Government Area. Asaba had a population of 149,603 as at the 2006 census, and a metropolitan population of over half a million people. Asaba is well known for social activities and amenities such as hotels, clubs, cinemas, malls, event centre, etc. It holds a yearly program named Delta Yaddah which always hosts a series of gospel singers among others. Due to its large population, the crime rate is high. Pickpocketing, robbery, etc., are rampant. Because of the presence of foreigners in the state, the cost of living is high in Asaba. The Nigerian National League (formerly known as ''National Division 1'') is the second tier of club football in Nigeria. History From 1997-2011, the league has been split into 1A for Northern teams and 1B for southern teams. The top two from each division are promoted to the Nigerian Premier League the next season. Emmanuel Chinenye Emenike (born 10 May 1987) is a Nigerian former footballer who played as a striker. He most recently played for Belgian club Westerlo. Club career Delta Force F.C.
