Deli (song)
Turkey participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Deli" written by Kerem Özyeğen, Burak Güven, Kerem Kabadayı and Harun Tekin. The song was performed by Mor ve Ötesi. The entry was selected through an internal selection organised by Turkish broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT). Before Eurovision Internal selection On 17 December 2007, TRT announced during a press conference that the band Mor ve Ötesi had been internally selected to represent Turkey in Belgrade. Mor Ve Ötesi
Mor ve ötesi (literally ''Purple and Beyond''; a play on the word '' morötesi'', meaning ultraviolet) is a Turkish alternative rock band from Istanbul. Its four current members are Harun Tekin (vocals and rhythm guitar), Kerem Kabadayı (drums), Burak Güven (bass) and Kerem Özyeğen (lead guitar). Former members include Alper Tekin (no relation to Harun) and Derin Esmer. The band achieved mainstream success with the release of the album ''Dünya Yalan Söylüyor''. In 2008, the band represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade with the song "Deli" (Lunatic). Sweden In The Eurovision Song Contest 2008
Sweden selected its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 by holding an extending national selection, namely Melodifestivalen 2008. A record of 3,489 entries were submitted to the broadcaster SVT, and 28 were chosen to compete. They were completed with 4 wildcards in the end of December. Melodifestivalen was also this year held on Saturdays, starting with the first of the four heats on 9 February and ending with a final on 15 March. It was the last of the year's national selections, as the official ESC draw was held on 17 March. Four songs progressed from each heat, two to the final and two to the second chance round, where the songs were competing in a knock-out round to gain the last two places in the final. Bülend Özveren
Bülend Özveren (1943 – 18 October 2022) was a Turkish television presenter and sports commentator. Özveren completed his secondary education at (Istanbul) and higher education at Galatasaray High School. He graduated from Istanbul University, faculty of Law. Özveren started working at TRT on 31 July 1965, first as a television presenter before becoming the sports commentator in 1972. From 1973 to 2012, he intermittently served as the Turkish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. Özveren spoke English, Japanese, Spanish and French, as well as his native Turkish. Mazhar Kerem Özyeğen (born 26 September 1977 in İstanbul, Turkey) is the lead guitarist and one of the backing singers in the Turkish rock group Mor ve Ötesi. Previously played and sang in punk-rock group Spark, and later in a jazz-rock group Crusiana. Biography Mazhar Kerem Özyeğen was born on 26 September 1977 in İstanbul.
