Delaware's 14th Senate District
Delaware's 14th Senate district is one of 21 districts in the Delaware Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Kyra Hoffner since 2023. Geography District 14 straddles the border between New Castle County and Kent County, covering all of Smyrna, Clayton, Odessa, Blackbird, and Leipsic, as well as parts of Middletown. Like all districts in the state, the 14th Senate district is located entirely within Delaware's at-large congressional district. It overlaps with the 8th, 9th, 11th, 28th, and 29th districts of the Delaware House of Representatives. Delaware Senate District 14 (2020)
Delaware ( ) is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Maryland to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean to its east. The state takes its name from the adjacent Delaware Bay, in turn named after Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr, an English nobleman and Virginia's first colonial governor. Delaware occupies the northeastern portion of the Delmarva Peninsula and some islands and territory within the Delaware River. Christopher Andrew Coons (born September 9, 1963) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the junior United States senator from Delaware since 2010. A member of the Democratic Party, Coons served as the county executive of New Castle County from 2005 to 2010. Raised in Hockessin, Delaware, Coons graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts, where he joined Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He received graduate degrees from Yale Divinity School and Yale Law School.
