Del Sharbutt
Del Sharbutt (February 16, 1912 - April 26, 2002) was an American radio announcer. The son of "a circuit-riding minister in the Texas Panhandle," he was born in Cleburne, Texas,Grunwald, Edgar A., Ed. (1940). ''Variety Radio Directory 1940-1941''. Variety, Inc. P. 1037. and died in Palm Desert, California. Sharbutt attended Texas Christian University, initially planning to study law. After he became involved in drama and music there, however, he changed his career plans. His first appearance on radio was in 1929 as a singer on WBAP in Fort Worth, Texas. He soon became an announcer, and from that point on, he made his career in broadcasting. Sharbutt's obituary in the ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel'' noted that he spent "four decades as an announcer, newscaster, and company spokesman." ''Myrt and Marge'' is an American radio serial which aired from November 2, 1931 to March 27, 1942 on CBS Radio and the Mutual Broadcasting System. It was created and written by its main star, actress Myrtle Vail. Characters and story The soap tracked the doings and undoings of the two close friends, Myrtle Spear (Myrtle Vail) and Marge Minter (Donna Damerel, later Helen Mack) with some of the usual soap opera twists (kidnappings, organized crime, murder) and injected a degree of comedy into a genre not usually known at the time for wit. The Honey Dreamers was a singing group composed of 3 males and two females that appeared on radio and early television programs like CBS-TV, CBS's ''Faye Emerson's Wonderful Town'' and ''The Ed Sullivan Show''. The group was formed at St. Olaf College in 1946 by Keith Textor and his roommate Dick Larson, who introduced Keith to Sylvia Mikelson. Betty Ann Grove
Betty Ann Grove (September 9, 1929 – November 13, 2015) was an American actress and singer. Early years Grove was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her mother was "an exhibition ballroom dancer" who performed with Ray Bolger and Jack Haley, among others. Grove took her first dancing lessons at age 4 and at 11 was performing professionally by singing and dancing for service clubs in Cambridge. She attended Longfellow Grammar School and Cambridge High and Latin School. As a high school student, she performed for department stores' fashion shows in Boston. ''Your Hit Parade'' was an American radio and television music program that was broadcast from 1935 to 1953 on radio, and seen from 1950 to 1959 on television. It was sponsored by American Tobacco's Lucky Strike cigarettes. During its 24-year run, the show had 19 orchestra leaders and 52 singers or groups. Many fans inaccurately referred to the show as ''The Hit Parade''. When the show debuted, there was no agreement on its title. The press referred to it by several names, with the most common being "Hit Parade", "The Hit Parade", and even "The Lucky Strike Hit Parade", also "The Lucky Strike Parade". Modeled on life in the small town of Waters, Arkansas, near where Lauck and Goff grew up, the show proved immensely popular.
