Desmond Dekker
Desmond Dekker (16 July 1941 – 25 May 2006) was a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae singer-songwriter and musician. Together with his backing group The Aces (consisting of Wilson James and Easton Barrington Howard), he had one of the earliest international reggae hits with "Israelites" (1968). Other hits include "007 (Shanty Town)" (1967), " It Mek" (1969) and "You Can Get It If You Really Want" (1970). Anne Fleur Dekker (born 28 April 1994) is a Dutch publicist, feminist and journalist. Dekker has written opinion pieces and blogs for politically left-wing websites and magazines, and has been an activist for several causes. She is a former GroenLinks party employee in Hilversum. Dekker rose to nationwide prominence in March 2017, after politician Geert Wilders of the Party for Freedom (PVV) spread a message about a July 2016 tweet in which Dekker allegedly advocated for stoning Geert Wilders. Eduard Douwes Dekker (2 March 182019 February 1887), better known by his pen name Multatuli (from Latin ''multa tulī'', "I have suffered much"), was a Dutch writer best known for his satirical novel ''Max Havelaar'' (1860), which denounced the abuses of colonialism in the Dutch East Indies (today's Indonesia). Cornelis "Cees" Dekker (born 7 April 1959 in Haren, Groningen) is a Dutch physicist, and Distinguished University Professor at the Technical University of Delft. He is known for his research on carbon nanotubes, single-molecule biophysics, and nanobiology. Ernest François Eugène Douwes Dekker also known as '' Setyabudi'' or ''Setiabudi'' (8 October 1879 – 28 August 1950) was an Indonesian-Dutch nationalist and politician of Indo descent. He was related to the famous Dutch anti-colonialism writer Multatuli, whose real name was Eduard Douwes Dekker ("Douwes Dekker" being their surname). In his youth, he fought in the Second Boer War in South Africa on the Boer side. His thoughts were highly influential in the early years of the Indonesian freedom movement. Femke Dekker (born 11 July 1979) is a Dutch rower from the Netherlands. Dekker started rowing in 1990 and made her international debut in the double sculls at the 1995 Junior World Championships in Poznań. Together with Christel Rijnten she won the bronze medal. The following year Dekker became World Junior Champion in the four with Rijnten, Karin Klinge and Maartje Breeman in Glasgow. In 1997 she finished fifth in the single scull race at the Junior World Championships in Hazewinkel. She kept on rowing the single scull in 1998 with winning a bronze medal in the Nations Cup. Jacob Gelt Dekker (22 April 1948 – 1 September 2019) was a Dutch businessman, philanthropist, and writer. Born in Oterleek, North Holland, Dekker attended school between 1961 and 1967 in Alkmaar and later studied dentistry in Amsterdam. He received an Executive MBA from Erasmus University of Rotterdam and the University of Rochester. Following his education, Dekker created a series of entrepreneurial inventions, including the Splash Healthclubs in 1985 and One Hour Super Photo service, which Kodak later purchased. Marieke Anouk Dekker (; born 15 November 1986) is a Dutch footballer who plays for Braga. She is a member of the Netherlands national team. An Dekker (1931 – September 2012) was a Dutch sculptor, graphic designer, publisher and feminist. Her abstract works of sculpture heavily featured the dynamics of war, peace, and human relationships. Biography Dekker was born in the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1931. Her family was involved with the Dutch communist community, and as such fled the country when the Netherlands was invaded and occupied by Nazi Germany in 1940. Interested in sculpture from a young age, Dekker was educated at the Dutch Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied in the 1950s. She then moved to Paris to further her art career; while in France, she worked in the studio of prominent sculptor Ossip Zadkine. She held her first exhibition in Nîmes in 1953.
